Alltel Touch First to Receive EVDO Rev. A Upgrade

The first carrier to approve and deploy the long awaited EVDO Rev. A upgrade for the HTC Touch isn’t even available in many major markets, and requires EVDO data roaming in order for the device to receive the majority of its Rev A access.

HTC has updated their support site for the Alltel Touch with the newest ROM update which enables EVDO Rev. A access as well as implementing MMS and fixes for Bluetooth functionality.

Humberto, can you clarify your statements please. Sprint has the Touch and we have a very large EVDO Rev A network. What’s the Alltel claim?

So when is Sprint’s version going get it?

Jody, the Alltel claim is that they require data roaming in order to make effective use of the upgrade to begin with.

Daniel, the Sprint version did not launch with Rev. A access or GPS, and both have been promised ad nauseam in a June update.
