What does “activated” mean? I got a phone number from AT&T with my $30 LG’s, but I didn’t buy any minutes. Is it “activated”? Do I need to call from the new phone number?

The phone is not active until you start to use it. It has been assigned a number, that’s all. So, yes, you need to buy some airtime from somewhere.

That’s why AT&T auto-adds a $25 prepaid card to your shopping cart. You can use a different way of funding your AT&T account, but that’s the easiest to get started.

You can buy GoPhone airtime by calling 611, going online to refill, or by visiting a local AT&T, Best Buy, or Wal-Mart store.

What is the minimum airtime that I can purchase?
