An internal AT&T document has surfaced informing retailers that any excess stock of the HTC Pure, AT&T’s HTC Diamond 2 variant be sent back to distribution centers save for a bare minimum of one or two units per store depending on quantity on hand.
Various AT&T retail representatives have also confirmed that the recall is due to vastly lower than expected sales of the device and that AT&T has decided to replace the model with an as yet unknown device, either a current device with better sales numbers or an as yet unannounced device.
Further speculation states that the device will be replaced by the Motorola Backflip, which is expected to launch on March 7th via AT&T sales channels as the document states that the recall must be completed by March 5th.

Best Buy is already doing presales for the Motorola Backflip to be released on March 7th, so it’s coming out but whether you can call it a replacement or not is relative. An android phone instead of a windows mobile phone sounds like an improvement to me.
