I just got of an online chat with an AT&T rep. They did not seem to be aware that the Pantech Slate can be used with the prepaid plan. I guess I will just go physically over to an AT&T store and ask. I have the Pantech Slate and I love it. I no longer have a contract and would really like to continue using this phone.

Hi,

I just got of an online chat with an AT&T rep. So, activating a new account on its own is not a big deal... you would just transfer the phone over to your existing account at no charge.
It also appears that the $50 mail-in rebate on the Pantech Slate is valid on existing GoPhone accounts, so long as you continue to keep the service active for 120 days.
So, you should be fine. Just follow the steps above to order the phone (there are no activation fees, so you'll just throw away the new number they give you) and then put the SIM from your old GoPhone into the new phone that arrives.

Keep in mind that you can just pop the SIM from your old GoPhone into the new phone, and your number will transfer over. Does this offer only apply if I buy a new GoPhone and activate a new account?

I already have a Go Phone account… I just want a new phone.
