So, activating a new account on its own is not a big deal... you would just transfer the phone over to your existing account at no charge. It also appears that the $50 mail-in rebate on the Pantech Slate is valid on existing GoPhone accounts, so long as you continue to keep the service active for 120 days. So, you should be fine. Just follow the steps above to order the phone (there are no activation fees, so you'll just throw away the new number they give you) and then put the SIM from your old GoPhone into the new phone that arrives.
