Air Purifiers in the Office
I recently installed an air purifier in my office. Having six computers in it… a lot of dust gets stuck in them. An air purifier is an excellent way to combat this, and I do have one that is working rather well.
The Honeywell 18155 is the little brother to their more powerful 50250. While the 50250 is a much more powerful purifier, for a little bit more money, it comes at the cost of much higher noise generation. So, I went with the 18155.

The nice thing about the 18155 is that the HEPA filter is now made of fiber-glass, and so it can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner rather than replaced (and yes, Honeywell says that this works just as well as replacing the filter, for at least five years, saving you several times the unit’s original cost). All you have to do is replace the carbon pre-filter ever few months, which is around $10-$13.
I’m happy with it so far, the unit is about a month old, and has already caught so much dust in the prefilter you can’t even see the black carbon underneath.
