Competitor Deathwatch

Sorry MobileTracker… you guys got started back in 2003 around when we did, but unfortunately, haven’t kept up with the times. No updates in over a month tells us it’s time to sing “so long, farewell…”

Oh, sorry, I can’t sing. I’d better stop.

Now it’s time to air the dirty laundry on MobileTracker. We tend to not bash competitors in the business, but they’re out of the business, so, oh well. The folks over at MobileTracker have held higher Google PageRank ratings and Alexa Ranks over us for years.

Why do you ask? Because they cheated. They have participated in elaborate link sharing practices (very anti-Google policy and ethics) which essentially have tricked Google into thinking they’re more popular than they actually are.

And, for awhile, this practice worked. MobileTracker gained reviews in major magazines which re-enforced the false PageRank. But, as we’re sure they learned, if you’re not growing, you’re dying. And, when you lie about your growth, you die even faster.

So long MobileTracker, can’t say we’ll miss you, but we sure will miss the competition. Beating cheaters in the ratings game is always fun.
