Finally…

A day nine months in the making. We won over Windows Live Search, Yahoo, and now… the big G.

iPhone Shootouts You’ll Love… Or Love to Hate!

We just love when we spark discussion. Our PPC-6800 Mogul Review certainly did that, when we put it squarely against Apple’s iPhone. Now, I realize that wasn’t entirely a fair comparison… after all, HTC took almost a year to ship Mogul, and Apple didn’t announce iPhone until after last year’s fall CTIA Expo, where Mogul [...]

But What About This Blog?

Fear not folks, just because I’m now blogging on ChristopherPrice.net does not mean that this blog is going anywhere. You’ll still get a behind-the-scenes peek as to what’s going on at PhoneNews.com, and you’ll also get a bit more of a piece of my mind over all-things-wireless.
As we’re starting to bring more and more people [...]

Podcast Anyone?

I really like GarageBand. Unfortunately, it had one fatal flaw… it couldn’t work with Bluetooth headsets. The problem (and yes, this has been a bug for over a year and a half) was that GarageBand would crank the 11hz audio stream to 22hz… and you, wind up sounding like a chipmunk.
Now, I didn’t want to [...]

And, We’re Back (Updated Again)

No, a 48 hour outage is simply unacceptable. But, we did finally get things working with our new hosting company, InMotion Hosting. The problems were resolved, as we thought, by taking suPHP out of the equation… by putting PhoneNews.com on a server that doesn’t use it.
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again… suPHP and [...]

Trapped in Limbo

Warning, cruddy code terminology sure to give anyone a headache ahead…
Welcome to our new server. Don’t get too comfortable. See, we chose this host because they didn’t do cruddy stuff like suPHP or PHPsuexec. In fact, they promised us they weren’t going to use such crudware on their servers.
So, a week or two ago, guess [...]

Office Woes

Ceiling caves in? We can deal with that. MacBook Pro gets sick? That’s when things start to grind down. And yes, within the past week, both have happened in the PhoneNews.com offices.
I’m currently on my third re-install, thanks to a nasty bug in TechTool Pro 4.5.3 (it mis-interprets a jHFS+ offset as an improper journaling [...]

Moving Forward on Joomla

We have a few announcements to make regarding Joomla.
• We will be moving ahead with Joomla 1.0.13. I’ve decided that, while we could probably migrate to Mambo, that it is not an effective solution. We’d be stuck with the same SEO problems Joomla 1.0 has had all along. Namely, we’d still have semi-ugly URLs that [...]

PC Magazine Attacks Verizon Over VZW UI

No, we aren’t in this fight alone. PC Magazine got ahold of a pre-release RAZR2 V9m from Motorola, and panned its implementation of the Verizon user interface. They noted that even if it had the Flash-enabled UI (which it doesn’t)… that the interface has just got to go.
Hopefully Verizon will listen, and just go back [...]

The (Not So) Dreaded NoFollow

We’ve had to turn rel=nofollow on, on our site’s comments from users. This means, you won’t get any more credit in the PageRank game for plugging your web site in our comments. Sorry. You can thank the number of spammers… but it is a good sign of our growth. People (humans, not bots) are actually [...]
