New & Upcomings for This Week
We have quite a few reviews still to go, this week we’re going to be posting Motorola V9m reviews for Sprint and Verizon, as well as the Motorola Q9m, and a couple of Bluetooth accessories from BlueAnt.
Also this week, we’ll be working on search engine optimization of the PhoneNews.com forums. We’ll be using open code [...]
Apologizes About the Downtime
We realize this past month hasn’t been the greatest for PhoneNews.com. I’ve been away, and at the same time, our site uptime has been a record low. We’re the first to admit that it’s been a record low. While the two circumstances are a bit correlated, we’re committed to fixing it. We will have a [...]

I’m happy to report that Joomla 1.5 has added legacy backlinks! This was the most critical issue in Joomla’s development, and it’s a great way to start the end of my vacation. I’d like to thanks all those on the Joomla team, especially the people that implemented the code necessary to make this happen.
Needless to [...]
We Call Them Like We See Them…
I hope that today’s coverage will settle some people’s notions that we have a bias towards iPhone. I’ll take a very brief break from my two week vacation, not only to write the article linked above, but to say this: Our only bias is to the consumer. We’ve said that from the beginning, and we [...]

I will be on vacation until the end of the month. About all you’ll see from me until then, are reviews for phones we’ve already received. Continuing coverage will be in the capable hands of the rest of the staff until then.

Guess what happened today? The folks at InMotion Hosting called. Apparently they no longer want us using their bait-and-switch low-cost hosting, and made us change servers.
And, on this fourth server move in less than a month (yes, all on the same host)… guess what we had to do? Open more support tickets! Our PHP settings [...]
Meet the Family… The RAZR2 Family
Aparrently people want us to review the RAZR2. We’ve had these all in the office since last week. Not to brag, just worthy of pointing out that every carrier has sent us every RAZR2 released in the U.S. We’ll get to reviewing them in the next week… or two.

Today is shaping up to be the day we overhaul the Knowledge Base. As if anything else couldn’t delay the the rollout, the MediaWiki team pushed out critical security updates which we, of course, were obligated to deploy.
Now here’s the early-morning bombshell. The new Knowledge Base will be so groundbreaking, we’re changing its name. Since [...]
Forums, Site Performance Updated
We’ve just finished updating the forums to IP.Board 2.3.1. The changes in this update are minimal in terms of appearance… but big in terms of speed. The forums are now faster than ever, and now load just as fast as news pages.
In addition, we’ve also fine-tuned the performance of news pages. Yes, they load even [...]
WAP Access: A New Hope
We’ve just been given new WAP code for Joomla to put into the site. In case you didn’t notice, we already have xHTML-mobile support for PDAs (and modern phones)… but some phones (like, all of Verizon’s) are still stuck in the WAP 2.0 stone ages.
We’re going to reach out to them with a new WAP [...]
