iPhone Shootouts You’ll Love… Or Love to Hate!

We just love when we spark discussion. Our PPC-6800 Mogul Review certainly did that, when we put it squarely against Apple’s iPhone. Now, I realize that wasn’t entirely a fair comparison… after all, HTC took almost a year to ship Mogul, and Apple didn’t announce iPhone until after last year’s fall CTIA Expo, where Mogul first leaked out. But, should we move the par, the benchmark around because HTC takes bloody forever to ship a phone? I don’t think so.

That said, we’re not going to stop comparing devices to iPhone. In fact, you can bet just about every smart device we review will be pitted against it… until it no longer has a massive disparity in performance. When Internet Explorer Mobile can load AJAX web sites with graphic detail, when Windows Media Center finally functions properly with PDAs, when things just function like they should for a device in 2007… we won’t need to compare Windows Mobile to iPhone. Same goes with Palm, and RIM, and Symbian… and everyone.

Quite frankly, most folks won’t be annoyed as much when we say “This phone is better than iPhone in ease of use and its abilities as an internet device”. I welcome the day. As I’ve said… I want Microsoft to be 1% better than Apple, so Apple has the frustration to leapfrog 10% better than Microsoft. Lather, rinse, repeat.

So, guess what we’re doing with our Motorola Q9m review that’s nearing the printing presses?
