June: Big Month for PhoneNews.com

We’ll have just a bit more time to give to PhoneNews.com this month than last (I know… we broke every record last month, and here we go putting even more work into things).

What are some of the things you can expect?

  • A complete overhaul of the Knowledge Base, with a brand new Phones Section detailing every phone in America.
  • Forums. We’re going to make some big changes to make it take off in big ways. Big file posting was just the beginning…
  • Wireless access. WAP has always been a major pain in our side. We keep coming really close to launching a WAP access component, only to have some show-stopping bug pop up at the last minute. It’s been this way for the better part of a year with our efforts, so we’re going to call in some more coders to get the job done… hopefully.
  • Start code sampling and testing of Joomla 1.5 Beta 2, for easier transition for the site to our new, robust news delivery system. Just to be cool like everyone else, here’s our “official” badge showing we’re onboard.

  • Tighter integration. Knowledge Base info right on the home page, not just some cheesy link to the Phones…
  • Hundreds of other things we’ve been putting off since the start of the year. That’s right, hundreds. And not hundreds as in the “hundreds of changes between Windows Mobile 5 and 6″… things you’ll actually notice and like. Sorry Microsoft, couldn’t resist.
  • iPhone! We’re going to dominate iPhone coverage in the later half of this month, and we’re doing our best to work with Apple (which isn’t always the easiest thing to do) in order to get you one of the very first comprehensive reviews of the most-anticipated phone of the 21st century (well, so far… there’s a lot of time left in the 21st century).
