Lines in the Sand…
We’re drawing some lines in the sand today, to ensure that PhoneNews.com moves forward, and… well… doesn’t get stuck in the sand.
First off, reviews are suspended until the middle of December. We don’t have the resources to give proper reviews with the workload (and lack of a few good people), to balance that along with all the daily priorities (news) and upgrades we are currently working on.
In addition, we’re also realigning priorities on the Phone Encyclopedia, in order to ensure that it will be finished next month (as in, out of beta). Compare Phones (a feature we’ve teased in the past) will not be in the final version (but that was previously announced). Our Browse by Carrier feature has been scaled back a bit. It will still be there, but it will no longer display phones in chronological order.
We are still planning to offer Compare Phones down-the-road, we’ve added the underlying details and code to every single phone, and will continue to do that as we build the Encyclopedia out towards completion.
By tweaking these two features, we can now move forward at an exponentially faster speed to get things done with the remaining phones, as well as begin integrating the Encyclopedia with the rest of PhoneNews.com.
While this may not seem very dramatic, these two things have been a drain on us for months to juggle, and we’re letting you know why these two things are happening. We’ll be back in the later half of December with all kinds of new reviews and features, right alongside major upgrades, and the Phone Encyclopedia’s exit from beta. As you can tell, we are juggling a lot, but December will be a groundbreaking month for PhoneNews.com.
