Of course, people have taken our articles the wrong way… happens all the time. They think we’re being evil when we’re actually doing good.

Here’s a good case study: Our article; “Free Sprint EV-DO Data? With Alltel U Prepaid, Yes You Can.”

Now, if you read that at face value, and run to the Comments button, you might think we’re helping people abuse Sprint’s data network. You would be very wrong.

Instead, we exposed to Sprint and Alltel, while informing the consumer, of a potential problem. Right now, very few people can exploit the Alltel flaw. In a few months, once Alltel flips the proper switches, millions of customers will be able to tap into Sprint’s network… taking a free data ride.

If we were being unethical, we would have simply sat by and done nothing. Instead, we reported before the network launch so that Sprint and Alltel would have the time they need to fix this problem.
