WordPress Migration Timeframe

Good news from the design team. We’ll have a near final draft soon, hopefully within the next 24 hours.

Once we have that, we’ll be hard at work tweaking and refining it to be the best we can. Once that is done, and everyone (everyone) on the staff signs off on it… the coding will begin.

We hope to begin flipping the switches on January 3, well into the weekend. This will mean PhoneNews.com will have to take a rare, mid-week operational pause. The site will go offline for a brief period, but we’re going to take the worst-case position and say it could be completely down for up to 48 hours. By “completely down”, we mean the news portion… we’ll offer links to the Forums and Phone Encyclopedia during the downtime for people to continue accessing the rest of the site.

When we come back online on the fifth, things will look completely different. And, there will be a fair amount of dust on the show floor… so please bear with us during the few days afterwards while we clean things up.

Keep in mind, we’re moving 2,500 articles, links, a new look, and we need to make sure it all works… no small task by any means. And, the work is already well under way. The result? A better PhoneNews.com for us, and for you… and hopefully, one running on a stable trifecta of software that we won’t have to replace again.
