After being introduced in September as a way to transition from the Shrinkage plans that became the brand’s calling card over the past three years, Boost Mobile’s Data Boost plan slate will now be a permanent addition to the brand as of next month according to newly leaked internal dealer communication.
As previously reported, the three Data Boost plans feature a $5 discount with sizable data allotments. The $35 plan features 1GB of data per month, the $50 plan features a sizable increase from 2.5GB to 5GB of data with a discount to $45, and the $60 plan jumps even further from 5GB to 10GB of data per month with a discount to $55. As an additional incentive, current customers are able to switch to the new plans.
However, the permanent change does come with a new exception, as Boost Mobile will add a $3 surcharge to top-up monthly service as of next month and those making their first service payment after initial activation will have the first surcharge waived. Those on auto-pay and Boost Daily Unlimited will be excluded from the new surcharge in a bid to increase monthly auto-pay adoption. The new surcharge will also affect Virgin Mobile customers on Beyond Talk and monthly PayLo plans topping up without auto-pay as well.
