Buy a GoPhone for $9.99, We’ll Give You $9.98
That’s right. We’re going to give anyone that buys a Nokia 2610 GoPhone, $9.98. Considering that the phone costs only $9.99 (with free overnight shipping), you actually walk away paying just one penny.
It’s really simple, and is the same process as our Buy a Pink Z750a, Get a Free Case deal. The only thing that you’ll need, is a free PayPal account.
1) Click this link to buy the Nokia 2610 Refurb from the GoPhone Store. It doesn’t matter which GoPhone plan you chose, but you must click the link. This allows us to make sure you ordered via PhoneNews.com.
2) When you get your order confirmation email (that’s the one with your order number in it), copy the text of that email, and send it to us. Be sure to give us an email address associated with a PayPal account.
3) Once we confirm the order, we’ll send the $9.98 along via PayPal. Please note that this can take anywhere from one to nine days.
Fine print: Of course, we reserve the right to end this offer at any time. Please note that AT&T has a cap of about three orders per day, per person. If you order more than that… AT&T won’t ship them to you, and may cancel all of your orders. However, we will honor any order that AT&T ships, so feel free to order a couple.
Update: If you want to order multiple phones (again, up to three), you need to do so on separate orders. We will honor any multiple-phone orders until now. But, from now on, please place separate orders (one for each phone).
Update 2: The price on the phone has risen to $9.99. We’ll credit you $9.98 going forward. If you ordered at a higher/lower price, fear not… we’ll still give you the full cashback.

Will this phone work on tmobile pay as you go plans?
Thanks in advance.
JJ, the phone is locked to AT&T. It will work on any AT&T plan (prepaid or postpay), but it will not work on T-Mobile until it is unlocked.
AT&T will give you the unlock code for the phone, after you have maintained service for 90 days.
I also purchased 3 of them, Waiting for verification from PhoneNews on getting the 8.98 refunded to my paypal e-mail. I guess we know what they say about an offer to good to be true.
Someone didn’t read the whole article:
“3) Once we confirm the order, we’ll send the $8.98 along via PayPal. Please note that this can take anywhere from one to nine days.“
My experience with ATT is that they limit GoPhone orders via the web to a maximum of three per billing address, not per day. After I’d acculumated three orders over the space of a couple of months, they cancelled my fourth online order earlier this month. Has their policy now changed?
We haven’t tested it, to be honest… I don’t know what the limit is exactly. I don’t think AT&T doesn’t want anyone to know… there certainly isn’t any published rule other than that they “may limit the number of orders.”
The order cancellation notice I received via email the day after placing the order simply said that I “may have exceeded the maximum number of orders allowed”, without saying what the maximum is. So I called AT&T and was told that GoPhone online purchases are limited to a maximum of three phones delivered (over any period of time) to a billing address. For subsequent orders I would have to use a different billing/shipping address. The limit only applies to orders made online, and they offered to place an order over the phone at the same price/terms offered on the website, though of course that would negate any extra incentive you’d get by clicking through from a third-party referral website.
I doubt it’s three per address for life. In fact, I know that isn’t true. People who hit the limit on the Z750a deal, were able to order the 2610 deal successfully.
I suspect that it is three within a 30 day period, but it may be three per calendar month. I’ll report back once users test a bit more.
Did it not go through?

Briana, we didn’t get your submission. Please re-send it.
Be sure to copy just the text of the email. Some web browsers grab images and other code that we have to block for security reasons.
If all else fails, just send us the order number, your name, address, and the final order total (including sales tax).
I am having the same probelm as briana. I cannot submit an email via firefox or IE. Please help!
As I said above…
If all else fails, just send us the order number, your name, address, and the final order total (including sales tax).
Most of the errors we’re getting are from people with desktop email clients that are copying more than just the text of the email (even if they don’t intend to). By manually typing in the aforementioned information… the email form should go through.
If that doesn’t work, please post back… and we’ll see if there’s a bug.
Thanks for your help, Chris! Worked like a charm!
Kristy, it can take anywhere from one to nine days to process your PayPal payment.
I just want to use my regular ATT FamilyTalk sim card in Nokia2610 Go phone. Is there a way to order without activating the GoPhone account? If not, Can I immediately cancel the contract after getting the phone?
I heard there is a $1/day charge for keeing the account
Thanks!
The charge is $1 per day you actually use the phone.
The $1/day charge is only on the $.10/minute plan. You can call customer service and switch to the $.25/minute plan, at which there is no daily access fee (even on days when you do use the phone).
Nice deal.

Please, does anybody know the definitive version of how many Gophones a person can purchase without exceeding the limit? The first time I ordered from ATT a year ago I was able to make three purchases within a week without getting cancelled on. Then within the last 2 months I purchased around 6 without getting cancelled on. I then tried using an aunt’s credit card and was only able to order 2 before getting the cancellation. I just don’t understand their criteria. Customer Service told me you can’t buy any if you are an existing customer which obviously isn’t my experience. Someone here was told 3/month?
The “official” rule is three per credit card per address. However, there are no certain criteria. All we can assure you is that you are allowed to order three GoPhones from the web site per address. Anything beyond that is not guaranteed by AT&T.
P.S. AT&T was incorrect in telling you that you could not purchase a GoPhone because you were an existing AT&T customer. I can confirm that is not correct information.
The Nokia 2610 GoPhoneis $25.00
I had mine delivered yesterday afternoon. Hope I receive my refund!
Andrea, that is for the non-refurbished Nokia 2610. You want the refurbished Nokia 2610.
Hi everyone, we wanted to provide a quick update on Cashback payments.
We are current on cashback payments as of today. We did have a backlog that took about 24 hours longer than expected to fully process.
If you have not received, your cashback and it has been more than nine days since you sent in your request, please contact us. We respond to every request for a status update sent there.
Please do not post a comment here asking for an update, it takes us much longer to respond… but we have responded and removed each status request here.
I got my payment today. Thanks Chris. People should be aware that, unlike other cashback sites, Phonenews sends it’s payments out from a credit card so you get charged a fee from PayPal. Other sites send it out as cash and thus no fee. So you don’t get $7.98 back, you get $7.29.
Thanks for the feedback, for future cashback payments we’ll switch to a bank transfer. Unfortunately, PayPal doesn’t tell us the fee breakdown when payments are sent.
Of course, we want to avoid PayPal fees whenever possible, and we believe we’ve implemented changes to avoid that from now on.
Thank you guys!
So, is this still active, and are the PayPal funds sent from a credit card or bank account? My daughter really wants one of these, but with such limited funds, we have to watch every penny, even for a necessity such as this.
Thanks in advance!
Can anyone tell me if I could use this sim card with any of the unlock schiphoes they sell in ebay?, I am currently using pay as you go from Virgin Mobile, but their phones are really crappy, thanks guys
This is scam…I never got my money back after 9 days…nor I received any response to my requests. I dont know where phonenews.com is getting to.
PHONENEWS.COM, dont start SCAMS here. If you serious, first refund the promised money to me.
Thanks,
Ram
Ram, we never received your initial request, nor have we received any requests from you… ever.
I’ve sent you an email so that we can resolve your cashback. Please reply to it with the requested information.
how long does it take to get a payment. Still waiting on mine, i emailed the order confirmation over 6 days ago
As the article says, it can take one to nine days to process your cashback in most cases.
Thanks chris, I finally got my money into paypal account.
The whole process went very smoothly for me. I ordered the phone on Nov 20. I did not buy a pre-pay card at that time (you have to explicitly remove it from your shopping cart). I submitted the confirmation email to phonenews on Nov 20. On Nov 24, I received the $7.98 cashback from phonenews, and later in the day received the phone by UPS.
ATT charged my credit card for $7.99. ATT did not charge me sales tax (I’m in California). So it is exactly $0.01 that this has cost me so far.
I am new to ATT’s prepay plan. I’ve been using Verizon’s for many years. I’m a very low-usage user, and constantly accumulating value in my pre-pay account. What’s interesting about ATT’s plan is that I will actually be spending less per month, overall, than with Verizon’s. With Verizon’s plan, the minimum you can add is $15 per month, which expires in 30 days. My verizon cellphone therefore cost me $15 per month to use (assuming that I always carry over the value). With ATT, they’ve got the same minimum $15 for 30 days. But ATT also has $25 which lasts 90 days. Using that refill amount, I’ll be spending about $8.33 per month.
We’ll see if it works out. Of course, so far I have no idea whether ATT’s cell coverage is better or worse than Verizon’s where I live.
Chris,
I got the money in my paypal account, Thanks!!
Question: I am using the phone with my regular postpay account card. I heard that ATT can disable the phone by sending some code. Is that true?
Sy
Typically, AT&T only deactivates prepaid phones which have never been used on a prepaid account. If you want to avoid that, I would suggest making a test call from the prepaid SIM which came with the phone originally.
Chris,
I submitted my request nine days ago, but still haven’t received my payment yet. Please let me know if there is a problem with my request.
Best regards,
PI
About AT&T deactivating phones… Chris, can you elaborate on this a bit?
The literature that came with the phone says that if the phone is not activated within 26 days of order, it will be deactivated.
When you say AT&T deactivates phones, is it just the account that is deactivated? (I assume they don’t want to hold onto unused phone numbers forever and need to recycle them.)
Is something sent to the phone so that it won’t ever work, even if some other valid sim card is put into it later?
As far as a test call, what call could be made if no money has been put into the prepay account yet?
Just curious, in case I order a bunch more of these, or a z750a.
Usually it only happens on phones shipped to retail stores (Wal-Mart, etc). I haven’t heard of it happening on a GoPhone ordered from att.com.
Basically, it’s an anti-theft system AT&T implemented. Let’s say someone steals a prepaid phone from Wal-Mart and sells it on the street (a very common problem). The buyer then puts an AT&T SIM (not from the GoPhone) in the phone… AT&T then realizes that the IMEI wasn’t ever activated, and proceeds to flag the phone as stolen.
Like I said, it isn’t supposed to happen on phones sold from att.com (since they are activated before they are shipped out). Still, it’s a good idea to always power on a GoPhone with the included SIM, and make a test call (even to 611/customer care) first.
Hi folks, once again, you need to give us a day or two to respond to your emails. Especially during the holiday traffic, we get backlogged.
We are 100% current on cashback. We’ve even gone ahead and sent out cashback early to those that were in-processing.
We will be removing requests for status, again, this is not the place to do it, simply send us a contact email, and give us a day or two to get back to you. We can’t monitor every comment thread, for every article. That’s why we have a Contact Us section.
[...] Nokia 2610 for just $.01, without rebates [...]
Is this deal still running? My hubby would like to get one too. Thanks.
Kristy, yes, the deal is still running.
Jerry, we’ve removed your post asking for status, please make sure you use the contact form at the bottom of this page. Again, cashback takes 7 to 9 days, and your cashback has not been submitted for that full period yet.
Chris,
It has now been 13 days still no credit to my paypal account……?
