Kristy, yes, the deal is still running.

Jerry, we've removed your post asking for status, please make sure you use the contact form at the bottom of this page. Again, cashback takes 7 to 9 days, and your cashback has not been submitted for that full period yet.

Hi folks, once again, you need to give us a day or two to respond to your emails. Especially during the holiday traffic, we get backlogged.

We are 100% current on cashback. We've even gone ahead and sent out cashback early to those that were in-processing.

We will be removing requests for status, again, this is not the place to do it, simply send us a contact email, and give us a day or two to get back to you. We can't monitor every comment thread, for every article. That's why we have a Contact Us section.

Usually it only happens on phones shipped to retail stores (Wal-Mart, etc). I haven't heard of it happening on a GoPhone ordered from att.com.

Basically, it's an anti-theft system AT&T implemented. Let's say someone steals a prepaid phone from Wal-Mart and sells it on the street (a very common problem). The buyer then puts an AT&T SIM (not from the GoPhone) in the phone... AT&T then realizes that the IMEI wasn't ever activated, and proceeds to flag the phone as stolen.

Like I said, it isn't supposed to happen on phones sold from att.com (since they are activated before they are shipped out). Still, it's a good idea to always power on a GoPhone with the included SIM, and make a test call (even to 611/customer care) first.

About AT&T deactivating phones... Chris, can you elaborate on this a bit?

The literature that came with the phone says that if the phone is not activated within 26 days of order, it will be deactivated.

When you say AT&T deactivates phones, is it just the account that is deactivated? (I assume they don't want to hold onto unused phone numbers forever and need to recycle them.)

Is something sent to the phone so that it won't ever work, even if some other valid sim card is put into it later?

As far as a test call, what call could be made if no money has been put into the prepay account yet?

Just curious, in case I order a bunch more of these, or a z750a.

Typically, AT&T only deactivates prepaid phones which have never been used on a prepaid account. If you want to avoid that, I would suggest making a test call from the prepaid SIM which came with the phone originally.

Chris,

I got the money in my paypal account, Thanks!!

Question: I am using the phone with my regular postpay account card. I heard that ATT can disable the phone by sending some code. Is that true?
