Alltel has launched a new entry-level clamshell in the AX310 for those customers in divested markets.

The AX310 features features voice-activated calling, speakerphone Bluetooth, speaker-independent voice control and 1.3 megapixel camera with zoom.

The LG AX310 is available for $59.99 before an additional $30 mail-in rebate with activation of a 1-year service contract on a qualifying rate plan, bringing the total to $29.99.

Alltel Launches Samsung Freeform Messaging Device

Alltel has announced a midrange messaging device from Samsung in the SCH-R351 Freeform.

The Freeform features a Slim bar bodyshell with QWERTY keyboard, Teal and Burgundy colors, media players, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, speakerphone, voice control, and a 2.2 QCIF resolution display.

The phone is available from Alltel retail stores, but no word on online availability is known at this time.

Alltel Launches HTC Snap

Alltel has announced that it has launched the HTC Snap Windows Mobile device for its 91 remaining divested markets.

The HTC Snap features a QVGA landscape display, Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, A-GPS support, dual-band US CDMA EVDO Rev. A and quadband GSM/EDGE for international roaming, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, Qualcomm 7501a chipset with 256MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM running at 528 MHz, speakerphone, and 2.0 megapixel camera with video recorder.

Included in the Alltel HTC Snap package is a multivoltage AC Adapter, USB cable, headset, a 3-in-1 audio adapter and four international AC plugs for those traveling outside of the United States.

The HTC Snap smartphone is available for $149.99 before a $70 mail-in rebate with a qualifying 1-year agreement and required Alltel Wireless Smart Choice plans that include national voice minutes, unlimited Internet browsing and e-mail, along with My Circle access starting at $69.99, bringing the total to $79.99.

Hero Revealed by HTC for Sprint and Snap for Alltel

HTC has revealed the first evidence of the Sprint HTC Hero and the Alltel version of the HTC Snap via hastily pulled support pages.

The Sprint version of the Hero is expected to launch on October 11th according to the most recent internal roadmap, with Alltel’s version of the Snap expected to launch around the same time in divested markets.

BlackBerry Tour for Alltel Surfaces

The first images of the forthcoming BlackBerry Tour with Alltel branding have surfaced.

Alltel has launched the high-end LG Tritan multimedia messaging device.

The phone features a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, sliding QWERTY keyboard, EVDO Rev. A data access, microSDHC expansion slot, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, 3.0 megapixel camera with video recorder, HTML browser, GPS support and speakerphone.

The phone is now available in remaining markets for $179.99 after new 1 year agreement before an additional $100 mail-in rebate, bringing the total to $79.99 with an online buy one get one free promotion.

Alltel Implements 1-Year Agreements with No Increase in Phone Pricing in Divested Markets

Alltel has announced in a press release that it will begin offering 1 year agreements within the 91 markets that will be divested/sold by the carrier as a condition of the purchase by Verizon Wireless.

The aforementioned markets will operate as Alltel Wireless until they are sold to the highest bidder, including the areas being acquired by AT&T pending regulatory approval with Idaho, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia being excluded due to Verizon Wireless actively managing the sale of those markets.

Final prices for phones and devices will not be increased as a result of the 1 year agreement, with substantial savings on some models.

AT&T to Purchase Alltel Divestments from Verizon

In a developing story, AT&T is set to purchase assets covering 18 former Alltel markets from Verizon for up to $2.5 billion in cash with 6 markets being bid on by private equity firms and U.S. Cellular, according to CNBC and the Wall Street Journal.

The asset divestments were part of the requirements put forth by the FCC and the Department of Justice in order for the Verizon-Alltel merger to receive final approval earlier this year, and Verizon has until early July to complete the divestiture.

Alltel Launches Motorola Evoke

Following up on the cancelation of the Evoke for MetroPCS, Alltel has launched its version of the high-end slider.

The slider features a large 2.8 inch QVGA resolution touchscreen display, 2.0 megapixel camera with video recorder, microSDHC expansion slot, media player, GPS support via Alltel Navigator, speakerphone, Bluetooth with stereo audio support and support for social networks via a built-in application.

The phone is now available for $249.99 after new 2 year agreement before an additional $100 mail-in rebate, bringing the total to $99.99.

Alltel Lists Motorola VE465 Clamshell

Alltel has listed the previously FCC approved Motorola VE465 midrange clamshell.

The clamshell features a 1.3 MP Camera with 4x digital zoom and video recorder, media player, Celltop support, microSDHC slot, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, and touch sensitive outer controls with haptic feedback. The phone was previously approved by the FCC in January for use on CDMA AWS networks in use by Metro PCS and Cricket, but neither carrier has picked up the phone for final testing and sale.
