The first concrete details regarding the Verizon variant of the HTC Touch Diamond have surfaced along with preliminary pricing and availability information.

The device will be available starting on April 10th online, through Telesales, and through Business accounts with an as yet undetermined availability for retail stores and dealers.

The Verizon variant will be functionally identical to the Sprint and Alltel versions with a VGA display, TouchFLO 3D interface, 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, speakerphone and GPS support via VZNavigator.

As expected, the Verizon variant will dispense with the built-in 4GB NAND flash memory module, instead utilizing a microSDHC expansion slot which will increase its appeal for those customers that desire extra storage space for files or applications while also adding a flash for the camera.

The device will be sold for $469.99 Month-to-Month, or as low as $199.99 after new 2 year agreement, qualifying data plan, and additional rebates.

PCD quietly posted yesterday a second firmware update for the popular Verizon XV6800 (HTC Titan) smartphone.

The update makes more minor improvements than the first update (for the Verizon version of the device). Specifically, the update makes general improvement for VZ Navigator, as well as improving reliability with some Verizon cell sites designed by Motorola. While poorly promoted, both HTC and Verizon encourage all XV6800 owners to update.

It is not confirmed yet if this update unlocks GPS, as Verizon backpedaled to do on other, newer phones late last year.

Verizon’s support site for the XV6800 incorrectly still refers to the older MR1 mainteance release as being current. But, our future-proof Phone Encyclopedia wiki continues to stay up-to-date (even ahead of the carriers, as usual).

PhoneNews.com awarded the HTC Titan the Phone of The Year award for last year, in part because of its continuous improvement… specifically for continuing to receive firmware updates.

You can locate the update, in the Phone Encyclopedia article for the XV6800, linked below.

Encyclopedia: Verizon Wireless XV6800 / HTC Titan
