Sprint has issued firmware version 1.011SP for the Sanyo 5500/VM4500 and firmware version 1.006SP for the Sanyo RL-7300 to all Sprint Stores.

The Motorola V60s has been issued new firmware, 8610_03.0F.00 and is available at all Verizon corporate stores. This new firmware appears to not add new features, but actual disables some. Speakerphone cannot be used with the flip closed being the most vocal complaint from owners.

Best Buy has decided to pick up Verizon phones to replace AT&T Wireless in their entire nationwide retail chain. Verizon is already sold in some stores on a trial basis. No timeframe is given, but will most likely take place once the AT&T/Cingular merger is completed and Cingular sells off AT&T’s handset stock.

Update: Like the VM4050, Sprint appears to have reversed the decision to discontinue the G1000 and has returned it to sprintpcs.com for sale.
Sprint has discontinued the Hitachi G1000, it is no longer for sale from sprintpcs.com.

AT&T+Cingular: Cingular to Temporarily Use AT&T Brand Post-Merger
AT&T, AT&T Wireless, and Cingular have reached agreement on how to merge the brands of AT&T Wireless and Cingular. Cingular will retain the ability to use the AT&T Wireless name for six months after the merger.
