FCC Reveals LG CP250 and Samsung SGH-A837

The FCC has revealed two new clamshells from LG and Samsung respectively, with the A837 having been shown off earlier last week.

The phone features dual displays, a VGA camera with video recorder, microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, and speakerphone.  While the phone itself does not feature AT&T branding, the draft user manual submitted makes mention of AT&T services such as MEdia Net, IM services, and the AT&T Mall.

Neither AT&T nor LG have announced the phone at this time.

The Samsung SGH-A837, which we previously reported on is expected to feature quadband GSM/EDGE access, dual-band W-CDMA with HSDPA packet data, Push to Talk support, A-GPS support with AT&T Navigator, a 1.3 megapixel camera with video recorder and support for AT&T Video Share service, Bluetooth, speakerphone, and six-person conference call support.

Neither AT&T nor Samsung have announced the phone at this time.

BlackBerry Curve 8320 to Launch on AT&T

Information has surfaced regarding the pending release of the BlackBerry Curve 8320 on AT&T.

The device is expected to be nearly identical to the version sold on T-Mobile with the addition of the AT&T suite of services (AT&T Music, Mail, IM, Push to Talk, Navigator support through Bluetooth GPS unit) as well as an upgrade to BlackBerry OS 4.5, which is expected to add the HTML browser from the soon to be launched Bold, and the capability to use voice services and data simultaneously while using the built-in Wi-Fi radio.

The device is expected to be launched at the end of this month, though no specific date or pricing details are known at this time.

Sprint to Launch New Centro Colors Next Month

Press images have surfaced showing two new colors for the venerable and hugely successful Palm Centro.

Other than the new colors, these new versions are identical save for the addition of the Facebook application that was released earlier this year, as well as a QVGA touchscreen display, QWERTY keyboard, 1.3 megapixel camera with video recorder, media player, Sprint TV access, microSDHC expansion slot, and Bluetooth.

These new colors are expected to launch late next month in time for the holiday shopping season.

Confirmed: HTC Touch Diamond For Sprint Available September 14th

It was confirmed today that HTC’s Touch Diamond smartphone will make its debut on the Sprint network on September 14th with a starting price of $249.99 with a two-year contract and $100 rebate.

The device features a TouchFlo 3D home screen in which HTC and Sprint have written a custom YouTube application, a customized version of the Opera Web browser, and a customized media player to work on top of the existing Windows Mobile platform.  The device is built around Sprint’s new data intensive applications such as Sprint TV, Sprint Radio, downloadable music store, and YouTube that work well with Sprint’s high-speed EVDO Rev A network or Wi-Fi.

Samsung Launches Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrade for BlackJack II

Samsung has launched the long-awaited Windows Mobile 6.1 update for the BlackJack II smart device on AT&T.

The upgrade features A-GPS support through AT&T Navigator, Sliding Panel Interface, Mobile Banking support, along with Internet Connection Sharing, Voice Command and threaded SMS messaging.

Samsung reccomends removal of the SIM card before the update is performed as a precaution along with the requisite backup of all desired information before updating.

Sony Ericsson Announces Xperia Panel Interface SDK

In an announcement on Sony Ericcson’s developer page today, the manufacturer has announced the launch of a dedicated SDK for the Xperia Panel Interface that serves as the primary user interface on the soon to be released Windows Mobile 6.1 device.

The SDK is composed of a Microsoft Visual Studio plug in and a suite that includes a device emulator, templates, documents and sample code that can be deployed in HTML or written in Visual C++ for native deployment across devices.

The purpose for the SDK is to emphasize the depth of personalization options found in the device, as well as encouraging third-party development in order to find multiple uses for the interface aside from the standard panel set.  The SDK is currently in Beta form and is expected to be updated frequently before and after the launch of the device, which Sony Ericsson has not confirmed with a hard date as of yet outside of the fourth quarter timeline.

The Very Simple Samsung Knack Now Available On Verizon

Designed for portability and extreme ease-of-use, Samsung’s new Knack flip phone is now available on Verizon.  Among some new features, are dedicated 911and ICE (In Case of Emergency) keys, a large contoured keypad, and an adequate 220 x 176 display.

The Knack is available as of today on Verizon’s website, and will be available in stores starting October 14th for a two-year contract price of $39.99

Condurro Toughphone Launched, With Outdoor Features Ready

The new Condurro Touchphone was launched today, and is made primarily to perform well outdoors.  The ruggedness of the device, coupled with innovative weather and directional features, makes it a well-rounded outdoor device.  The backlit display features readouts for direction, altitude, barometric pressure and temperature.  The compass, barometic pressure, and altitude functions of the product are assigned to a single button- designed for easy switching between data readings.

The GSM phone can be deactivated to use the outdoor-based features independently of the GSM 900/1800 radio.  Some other key features include; being water and dust proof, a torch lighter, a laser pointer, MP3 player, FM radio, and Flash card extendability.

Sprint Launches Four New Phones

In keeping with the release schedule leaked by various roadmaps, Sprint has released four of its five expected devices today in all sales channels with the most highly anticipated device being pushed back to the middle of the month in the Touch Diamond.

  

The Samsung M220 and M320 feature Bluetooth, speakerphone, wireless backup support, Vision (1xRTT) access, voice dialing, while the M320 adds a VGA camera with video capture and PictBridge support for printing images directly with a compatibile printer.

 

The third phone released today is the Motorola Renegade V950, which is the first QChat based PTT handset available from Motorola.

The clamshell phone features external media controls, a 2.0 megapixel camera with video recorder, microSDHC expansion slot, Sprint TV and Music Store support, speakerphone, Sprint Navigation support, and an M810F certified bodyshell that is rated to withstand shock, vibration, and rain.

The fourth phone is the Motorola i365 candybar phone for the Nextel network. 

The i365 features access to Sprint’s new NFL Mobile Live application, Bluetooth, voice dialing, speakerphone, and the full suite of DirectConnect services on top of its rugged bodyshell. 

The Samsung M220 is now available for $19.99 after $150 instant discount and new 2 year agreement, the M320 at $29.99, the i365 at $89.99, and the V950 is now available for $179.99 before an additional $50 mail-in rebate bringing the total to $129.99 after the same aforementioned terms.
