Exclusive: Sprint 2009 Roadmap

Images removed at the request of Sprint. While numerous legal precedents allow us to post such information without fear of reprisal, we work to balance our coverage with a good relationship with all wireless providers and manufacturers.

We have already adjusted our internal policies to ensure future reporting does not prompt us to take this action.

PhoneNews.com has obtained Sprint’s device roadmap for the rest of the year. From the Samsung Touch Mini and Lucello dual slider all the way down to the appearance of the Touch Pro2 with dual mode EVDO Rev. A and GSM/EDGE/HSDPA for international roaming.

Neil on March 16th, 2009, 11:15 am

the “android surprise” from palm is listed in q2 as the palm p100 in the linux/android/google row.
i think it’s referring to the linux-based palm pre, which is also slated for q2…

This is hard to believe. Why is the Samsung called Cello on one screen and the Lucello on the other?

How does the Lucello slide in two directions?

Why are the images such low quality?

According to the Palm Monk image, it should be released already, but where is it on the Smartphone Roadmap?

I’m not convinced of the authenticity.

Joe on March 16th, 2009, 12:10 pm

Yeah…the “Palm Monk” (awful name), looks awfully similar to the Palm Treo Pro….

Mustang46L on March 16th, 2009, 1:30 pm

Why should BGR get credit? They posted 5 hours after PhoneNews posted this story. If anyone should give credit it is BGR. Or they could just thank the person that could lose their job for leaking information..

Sprint is getting the Pro 2 its Codename is the Rhodium

Ummm on March 16th, 2009, 1:48 pm

Umm, the BGR article lists PhoneNews.com as the source and links this article. Is that not credit enough?

why would there be no mention of the new samsung android device that is supposedly coming out soon. i dont know if i believe this leak is legit.

Humberto Saabedra on March 16th, 2009, 10:15 pm

A 4Q 2009 release as has been reiterated by many Samsung reps is not “soon” by any strech of the imagination so its not a surprise that it wouldn’t be covered by this roadmap as there’s no hardware available for carrier testing.

Samsung has yet to begin alpha hardware testing for Android to begin with. There have been issues with Android on CDMA in terms of baseband and radio interface issues, and they’re only now getting around to alpha hardware on AWS 3G for T-Mobile USA. Expect to see beta hardware during the summer and FCC certification in early Fall.

Liking the CDMA/GSM Rhodium.

Hopefully it has GPS as well as A-GPS.

The legal action will be to the one who released the information I’m sure. Luckily Sprint knows that only about 20 people in the country got their hands on these slides, so it shouldn’t take long to track them down.
