  • First SMT5700 Press Images Surface

The first official images of the long delayed Amoi-sourced SMT5700 smart device have surfaced, leading to renewed speculation that AT&T is preparing to launch the device in the near future.

We first reported on this device in March of last year when it passed through final FCC approval, and reported on the featureset which was slightly below par with no 3G but still more than adequate for most users.

It now remains to be seen whether AT&T plans to position the device as an entry-level Windows Mobile device with a price point matching the Centro, or if the carrier plans to upgrade the operating system to Windows Mobile 6 on account of the initial report listing Windows Mobile 5.0 with Java access.

No further details are available at this time.
