I think the carriers already won this battle by only offering huge minute plans with N&W, M2M, etc. I hardly use my AT minutes. Also, Facebook and SMS are much more popular than calling people. Lastly, how is the voice quality compared to a regular cell call?

  2. EP

If the voice quality is acceptable, this could be huge for those traveling internationally. Connect to a WiFi hotspot and be able to make and receive calls without being hit with a huge roaming bill when you get home.

Would GrooVe work well on a Nexus S on a SRDO plan?

As long as your 3G/4G or WiFi connection is sufficient, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work well.

This works perfect. I stopped paying my Verizon bill and now I just call and use my apps over wifi.

Its bad enough Verizon forces you to pay 30$ a month just to have a smart phone. My monthly bill was sky high, now I just have a cheap phone (10$ a month) to use if i don’t have a wifi signal (which is rare).

Voice is clear, calls don’t drop.

    Screw you Verizon.

This is basically a port of OBi110 telephony device that can pair with Google Voice. As long as Google allows such apps they will work. I hope they don’t block these kind of devices or software. Works very well!! and literally i was searching for such a app for android since Google Voice was released for Gmail.

Though the developer is father of reverse engineering.. i dont see any reason for Google to buy such apps, because it is going to violate the Telecommunication Authority agreement as it is working on a smart phone with no BTS link.
