HTC Mogul Upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1
While Sprint has not yet uploaded the update to their servers, PhoneNews.com has the final version of the Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade for the HTC Mogul.
This update also adds, as previously reported, Sprint TV service to the Mogul. Previously, Sprint TV service was available on the HTC Touch, but not on the Mogul. This makes Mogul the first PDA Phone on Sprint to offer both Sprint Navigator, as well as Sprint TV, in a single device.
You can download the update from our servers, by jumping over to the HTC Mogul page on our Phone Encyclopedia.
Verizon Wireless and Alltel have yet to commit to upgrading their variants of the HTC Mogul (the XV6800 and PPC-6800, respectively), to Windows Mobile 6.1.

Just found a minor bug. When in the Owner Information window, you can not type certain characters using the keyboard.
Example: In the phone number field, I can type 555 555 5555 as my phone number. I can’t type (555) 555-5555 as the phone number.
Workaround: Use the on-screen keyboard to type it in.
All other apps seem to work fine with the full keyboard, odd that Owner Information would have that issue.
And yes, this update does make PAM Verification air-tight.
I opened up Pocket IE, loaded a web page. Then, went to Internet Sharing and started a Bluetooth PAN session. Instantly, the device disconnected from the web, reconnected using the @modem.sprintpcs.com login, and shot up an Error 67.
So, if you update (and want to use the phone as a modem), you will have to add a Phone As Modem plan if you use this firmware.
I have not tested with WMWifiRouter yet. However, it may be blocked as well, considering that WMWifiRouter is just scripting the Internet Sharing UI.
This is why you should link to the source. I’m sure if you dug deeper than just scraping the firmware from xda-developers, you would have seen that a simple regedit:
“Those of you running Sprint ROMs should navigate to the following registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing” and delete the string value named “Extension”. This will allow you to connect to the Internet via the “Internet Sharing” app without the dreaded error 67/authentication errors.”
will apparently punch the hole needed to allow ICS (I do not have a titan and thus have not tested nor can vouch for this edit)
And while your over there, you should notice that the new Touch ROM has been released there as well.
Thanks for letting us know that the Touch ROM has leaked, we’ll definitively look into it. However, we didn’t get this ROM from the site you mentioned.

I am attempting to update my phone, which had several bugs, freezes, and does not have Sprint TV. However, the link provided will not update my Mogul HTC, which I purchased in April. The phone does not recognize the program. Do I have to download this to my pc and then sync it? Because my pc is not recognizing the link either? When is sprint set to release the update? They are still shwoing the march 10th update as the primary update to Windows mobile.
“This makes Mogul the first PDA Phone on Sprint to offer both Sprint Navigator, as well as Sprint TV, in a single device.”
Uh…. BlackBerry Pearl and Curve??
Where is Sprint Navigation after the update?
Pearl and Curve are typically considered Smartphones, they lack a touch screen. A touch screen is typically what separates a smartphone and a PDA phone.
The Motorola Q9c also has Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation, but it too is a smartphone, and not a PDA Phone.
After the update, Sprint Navigation is located in Start > Programs.
Lori, to run the updater, you download it to your PC and launch it from there. This is not a Windows Mobile program.
Sprint will likely release the update within the week, however, we have confirmed that it is the update they intend to post. The delay is made to ensure that both HTC and Sprint offer the same update on their servers at the same time.
posting here using the mogul under the new rom and its great…loving it. thaks for the early supply.
I must say that there is no better “do it all” phone in the states today. i won’t change phones before the htc pro is released

after complete update I have window 6.1. just follow the directions. I don’t know if its rom or os.
to use PAM 1 can simply rename phone as modem to sprint PCS or whatever connection available under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>comm>internetSharring>settings>ForceCellConnection
The install worked just fine, but it doesn’t have the sliding panel interface that Microsoft has been hyping. Anyone else have this problem?
I’ve been around and around with Sprint for 14 days now about PAM and it will not work and they refuse to do anything about it. Other than selling me a Sprint card with a $10 discount. wow.. i’m impressed!
Anywho… I tried your suggestion of:
1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing” and delete the string value named “Extension
to use PAM 1 can simply rename phone as modem to sprint PCS or whatever connection available under
that didn’t work so tried:
2)HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>comm>internetSharring>settings>ForceCellConnection
And I still get the error 67.
Any advise??? Anyone else continuing to have this problem?
