Motorola and Verizon have jointly announced the forthcoming launch of the successor to the Droid X Android smartphone in the Motorola Droid X2. The major differences from the original Droid X include an upgraded display from the original WVGA resolution to qHD resolution at the same 4.3 inch display size as well as the addition of a new dual core 1GHz processor from its previous single-core unit with Mirror Mode output, Android 2.2 to be updated to Gingerbread in the future, 8.0 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, 720p video capture and Bluetooth. Additional features include Wi-Fi N radio, GPS support and Mobile Hotspot support. Pricing is set at $199.99 after new 2 year agreement, with online availability set for tomorrow ahead of its official retail launch on the 26th.
