The number one trending topic on Twitter right now is: T-Mobile. The reason behind this number one ranking is not good news. All across the the nation T-Mobile Sidekick users are without data access and currently T-Mobile does not expect to have the data outage fixed until late this weekend.

Many users including famous celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton are reporting that they are receiving bill credits from $35 to 3 months free data from calling T-Mobile customer service to complain about the lack of data service. Update 1: – T-Mobile is reporting that data access will begin to come back online tonight but that it will take until at least Monday for all services to be fully restored per the update on the T-Mobile Support Forums.

- We expect data services to begin gradually returning in the next couple of hours (Saturday evening)

Update 2: As on Sunday evening, Sidekick data usage has not been fully resolved. T-Mobile’s latest update as of Sunday at 12:42pm is as follow:
“T-Mobile and Danger/Microsoft continue to urgently work to restore impacted services to Sidekick, and deliver them to our customers as quickly as possible. Following is a status update for our valued customers:
- Web browsing was restored Saturday afternoon, and the teams have been working through the night since the disruption started to enable additional functions such as IM, social networking applications and email as quickly as possible.

Update 4:
T-Mobile is advising customers not to do a hard reset. A hard resetcan cause address book and calendar applications to be lost.
“IM services and access to social networking applications are now being restored along with Web browsing. The Address Book, Calendar, and other features are available as well, however, we advise customers to not ‘hard reset’ their device by removing the battery as it may cause information they enter into the Address Book and Calendar applications to be lost. We expect e-mail service and back-up of user data to be restored today. Some richer data services, such as new purchases from the Catalog, may take longer to enable.”



He’s not that dumb, Sprint may go bankrupt soon, but their data services are the best. I don’t think this outage would’ve been so bad if it happened on the weekdays, but the weekends is when I use aim, do banking on the go, and check facebook.
P.S. Plus Sprint is getting a REALLY nice phone this month. HTC Hero. My contract with Tmobile also ends this month. I’ll be deciding against the HTC Hero vs. Mytouch soon…
jared you’ve lost it. Sprint is great. Service is great, data never goes out unless you don’t pay your bill of course. Verizon is expensive. Sprint is the best I’ve ever had. Which is why I still have it.

I think most people who hate Sprint are going off the reputation that Sprint has had in the past. I won’t say Sprint the best company out there, but you get a lot of bang for your buck. Sprint has coverage very similar to Verizon and a better selection of phones at the moment. And you’ll save a ton of money with them. Customer service has vastly improved from a few years ago.
@sprint tech – I agree with you. Personally, I think the changes at sprint are the direct results of the leadership from the CEO.
I’ve used Sprint for phone service since the UST-Sprint merger when I still lived in Virginia and California, and have preferred it to other providers.
When wireless came along I learned Sprint would be partnering with local providers in Kansas, my primary residence, so went with Sprint PCS. I’ve had good, and continually improving coverage in both rural Kansas and Northern California, as well as on the I70, I-80, and I-40 routes I use on my frequent drives back and forth between them.
I recently added data service, from a cottage at the very Eastern tip of Long Island, at the Greenport edge of Southold at the edge of the Sound. Service there was weak, and intermittent, requiring me to drive a few hundred yards into Greenport area to get strong signal. However when I drove back to Western Kansas I had excellent data service from Riverhead to my home in the Hays KS area, and it has been solid since – tonight is the first time I’ve used my primary broadband provider here at home.
My service experience was excellent; the weak signal at the point of original installation of the software and hardware caused difficulties that would not have had if I’d moved to a better location, and required special assistance to get things synced up. This stuff is all Model T level, in terms of reliability and ease of use. It will be a long time before we get 21st century Honda engineering and quality out of the computer and communications industry. But Sprint is best of breed in the current context, in my book.

I’ve had t-mobile (and various sidekicks) for years…
They’ve always had great customer service (always in English, 24/7) and tech support as well…
This is the first time I can recall that there’s been an outage this great with the Sidekick/Danger Servers…
On the other hand, I stupidly pulled my battery as well, to reset…and now I have no contacts and (more importantly) no calendar!
I am ashamed that most of this information is 100% stored on Danger’s servers.
And I’ve yet to be able to access my information through their online User Interface, presumably because it’s getting overloaded with people trying to access their information.

i dont know why you all are complaining. things happen, just suck it up and let them do their job. not like any of you NEVER made mistakes or bad judgments before. get off their case for an emergency that happened. i have been with T-Mobile for as long as i can remember and nothing was bad for me. you guys can get credit and whatnot from them after they are done fixing something that was catastrophic so just get your free things and switch to another service later or just stick to the people you’ve been with that provided great service since back in the day. 1 weekend has been ruined for us, but millions will be ruined for them. they’re probably working as hard as they can to get us our service back and we cant do things without our internet on our phones for a couple of days? give me and them a break and suck it up. thanks for the hard work in getting back our internet, T-Mobile, Danger, and Microsoft!

T-Mobile hasn’t screwed us over. Danger has. Got a problem? Other phones exist for a reason; buy one and get over yourself. Otherwise, stick around until the three parties involved work this out (all internet capabilities, etc. should be 100% with every Sidekick user within 36-48 hours at the latest, probably) and nobody gets hurt
Those of you complaining that have very poor grammar and spelling should spend more time off their phones and learning to spell and speak correctly!
I have had T-Mobile for years and the service has been great most of the time. I don’t care which carrier you have, they are all vulnerable to having technical issues at one time or another. ALL OF THEM! Get over it! T-Mobile is willing to give a refund of one month for the data service. That is fair compensation.
Well By the end of this month I will be changing to sprint. because sprint will never let you loose service like that. I will also tell all my friends to change too. all of my friends have a siekick. and we decidef to change to sprint.

I definitely sympathize with the t-mobile employee. I used to work for AT&T and as a Sidekick user for years, I’m well-aware of the company I keep with the majority of SK users.
While there are many Sidekick users who are… well, let’s just say they enjoy using a different form of the english language… there are also many sidekick users who are deaf and use perfect english and then a few of us who just happen to enjoy the sidekick for it’s functionality and don’t get into the “personalization” of the shell bit…
Anywho…please try not to lump us all together. We’re not all ignorant asses.

I had Sprint and didn’t get service in my own house. So I switched to TMobile, have had it for over 2 years and have never been happier. Even though my Sidekick data service went out, it has been the only problem I’ve had with TMobile thus far.

Dex, Danger is owned by Microsoft. They’ve admitted their server went down. It could have been a system upgrade, or it could be a system failure. Either way, yes, the buck does stop at Microsoft here.
I think really the “big deal” here is the Sidekick’s total dependence on an external server. I can understand push functions requiring a special server, but the device should maintain a copy of contacts/calendar data that survives a power loss.

T-Mobile does NOT have to do with it. It is Danger, which is supported by Microsoft, the one that is not working. So, if there is somebody to blame, that should be Microsoft and not T-Mobile. In fact, T-Mobile is offering credits up to a hole month of data services for the inconvenience.
Kayla, at the very least you are entitled to a credit of $1 for each day you are without Sidekick data service. I would call T-Mobile Customer Service once service is restored with a tally of the days without service.
You may want to call now as well, and see if prepaid is getting $30 service credits, similar to what postpay is getting.

My service has been out since Friday. And about an hour ago, my sidekick 2008 stopped ringing when I got a text. I had texts in my inbox that didn’t show contact names, just numbers. This is pissing me off.
T-Mobile freakin sucks!! There’s a global outage every couple of months. This is some bullsh-t!! Does somebody keep crashing into the sidekick tower or some sh-t? My biggest mistake was taking my battery and SIM card out, thinking it was just my phone.
Then I went into the T-Mobile store and they told me that there’s a server outage everywhere, and that getting it back up is the top priority…Too bad everyone and their brother decides to get onto the Desktop Interface at the same time, it’s timing out my internet because so many people are trying to access it at the same time. I love my sidekick, and I’m not gonna change any time soon.
I just hate not being able to see my contacts and notes and such, also not being able to recognize the numbers of the people texting me. I hope the server comes back up really really soon!! I’m being so so impatient. I don’t have a home phone, so my cell phone not having any numbers and such, I have no contact with anyone. just to let you ppl know. sprint may have good service but their security royally sucks. look it up and do the research. i, among thousands of others have had my personal information compromised because of SPRINT. my identity was stolen and all my personal information was compromised because SPRINT released it to criminals who called customer service and pretended to be employees and gathered online login information and also got a representative to tell them all the information listed on the account. dont believe me? look it up. if you value your identity dont get sprint and would like a company who has respect for their customers, dont get sprint.

The outage is due to the Danger/Microsoft service. They had migrated a lot of data to new servers and the “effed” it up. This has always been the achilles heel of the Sidekick. No “G” not dice. It’s a brick.
Tmobile is not involved.
This may be an attempt by MSFT to really kill off the sidekick brand loyalty before their PINK product launches-which is even a bigger piece of garbage

You guys need to stop complaining, at least they’re trying to do something. Can you do anything? No. So respect the fact that they’re trying to fix it.
And to everyone that says Verizon is better despite the price, you’re wrong. I switched to Verizon and literally every single phone call was dropped after 2-3 minutes. I always had 1-2 bars and found various deadzones throughout Los Angeles, CA. I have to say it was the biggest mistake of my life with cell phones. I switched to T-Mobile after 2 weeks, I couldn’t stand Verizon.
Sprint has been the best with the network and reception coverage, however they screw up bills like a 1st grader trying to do Calculus. And the customer service doesn’t help.
All in all, T-Mobile has been the best phone company I’ve ever used, and even if they have network problems sometimes, the prices and Fave-5 deal is worth it. I do admit that this is quite inconveniencing especially now that I depend on my aim services through my sidekick to talk to my boyfriend. However, I trust them to have it up and running ASAP and complaining isn’t going to help anything. Just sit tight people and it’ll be fixed soon.

it’s a free country…we can complain all we want when we pay for and expect services that aren’t there…me? trying to bury my dad this weekend was made harder without these services and now 4 days since it started (gone from GA to AR and back!) on my sidekick (longer for my second one) it’s still not fixed..

For me it wasn’t so much about not being able to text, or web browse it was not flipping knowing about a service downage!!!!!!!!! I spent ours search though sidekick tech help sites…. if i would of known it wasn’t my phone it would have been ok. the problem was not knowing whether my contacts would come back. 1. I have a sidekick and I use it for VERY serious work. I used RIM / Blackberry products in the past and I have been with Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Up until this weekend’s sshow T-Mobile has consistently delivered the best service experience; online, on the phone, and with call quality that I have ever had. I am exceptionally upset by my loss of Data Service and T-Mobile did the correct and honorable thing of crediting me for this month. While this weekend has really been troublesome for me as I work on political campaigns and email is my life. It would take a lot more than a temporary service outage for me to consider leaving T-Mobile. One thing I can say is that their front line customer service representatives are empowered to consistently make positive service decisions, the call quality is good, they have a great website, and great phones. Lastly, I frequently hear that Verizon offers a good mobile product, but my experiences in dealing with them as a residential customer has been so horrendous that I would NEVER consider giving them my mobile account. T-Mobile has continually treated me as a valued customer and delivered a GREAT product. I hope that they remain independent and continue to do so.

Is T-Mobile giving credit to everybody who has a sidekick device and is experiencing this problem or just for the people who call T-Mobile and is making a complain? Please let me know! I would love to get credit for not being able to use the data service. I mean its only fair for T-Mobile to give credit to everyone who has a sidekick device regardless if they call and complain or not. We pay for a service and now we are not getting what we are paying for. Its only FAIR! T-Mobile would put penalty on us if we don’t pay for their serivce.
Here is my input & issue with the Pre-Paid situation..
I have a sidekick LX 09. I have been with T-Mobile since 2005 (VERY FIRST SKICK) and this is actually the only MAJOR problem I’ve ever had with the service. My sidekick is also a pre-paid phone simply used for Texting, AIM, E-MAIL, & Web, it’s convienent, and I have AT&T for calling.
****WHYYYY are the people with PLANS getting credited 49.99 for this month since they have experienced data loss, and pre-paid users are only getting credited 1$/day for each day it was lost, which is 3$ as of now????? I know people who spend more on pre-paid cards, than an average person with a T-Mobile Plan.
What pisses me off the most is that
1. I wasn’t notified, and ruined a lot of weekends, due to, no contacts, notes or calanders.
2. As a pre-paid customer, You spend (FULL RETAIL) 400$+ on a sidekick and your only getting credited 3$.
3. Everytime I call, I get a foreigner. No offense, but I’m American with service in America, I EXPECT to speak to an American with a decent hold time.
With that said, since these companies pay foreigners to work for a little bit of nothing, I need the rest of that ‘nothing’ to be credited to my account, just like the rest of the people with plans, NO EXCEPTIONS.

I have a sidekick LX 09. I have been with T-Mobile since 2005 (VERY FIRST SKICK) and this is actually the only MAJOR problem I’ve ever had with the service. My sidekick is also a pre-paid phone simply used for Texting, AIM, E-MAIL, & Web, it’s convienent, and I have AT&T for calling.

For anyone who questions the Sidekick phone as a legitimate smart phone let me just say that it is if you’ve never known any other. I constantly use the phone to conduct business with tons of new people for a variety of reasons. With this phone I’ve been able to become a much more successful person. This just happened to be the worst weekend it could happen as I’ve been traveling. Everything that I had planned to do has been grounded as if by a blizzard! I believe T-Mobile should replace the operating system on the phone completely and fire Microsoft.

I agree with everyone, due to the loss of data service, I was unable to conduct business as most of my jobs are onsite and require the use of the data service to look up info over the internet, schedule appointments, as well as log in contact info, make phone calls, utilize previous notes, etc. Over the sidekick after this one, maybe even t-mobile as a whole as well. For those of you who rely solely on the address book from your sidekick, d/l intellisync and export all your contacts to outlook (if you have access), as a 2nday back up as soon as the service is restored. Danger/Microsoft loss me some cash this past weekend. Better get it straight cuz after this one I sidekickin’ this phone straight down the toilet.

i had a sidekick since the sk1 , currrently i have the lx 2009. & within the pass 2 years tmobile date service has been horrible.
i lose my service atleast twice a day & have to restore default settings just to get my “G” back.

Why when i call my phone company provider i have to be on hold atleast 20 – 30 mins.
with sprint im on the phone with a live person in no less then 10 mins.

wow. so the service sucks to begin with and this sidekick service outage has just made T-Mobile unbearable. I posted a rant in reply to a forum on T-mobile saying how much the service sucks and 10 minutes latter when i look to see if there are any other posts there the thread is gone. Some T-mobile mod removed the thread?? what the hell is this. #2: DO NOT CALL CUSTOMER CARE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING!!! THEY WILL DO A MASTER RESET AND LOSE ALL YOUR DATA!!! THIS IS REQUIRED TROUBLESHOOTING!!! THEN YOU WILL GET YOUR DATA BACK WHEN SERVICES ARE RESTORED!!!
#3: TO TEST TO SEE IF SERVICE IS BACK, GO TO “AIRPLANE MODE” AND “TURN WIRELESS OFF.” WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES SO YOUR SIDEKICK WILL GET DISCONNECTED FROM THE NETWORK. THEN “TURN WIRELESS ON” TO SEE IF SERVICES ARE RESTORED!!!
#4: REQUEST CREDIT WHEN SERVICES ARE RESTORED AND GIVE THEM THE EXACT AMOUNT OF DAYS THE OUTAGE OCCURRED FOR YOU OR EVEN THREATEN TO CANCEL SERVICE AND YOU MAY BE UPGRADED TO LOYALTY UNLIMITED PLAN!!!

This morning I had my G soon as I logged in on aim, tweeted and texted people saying my network was back it went back to the 2 and the finding signal. Urghhhhh. I was SO MAD at this! I bought my 09 a couple months ago, my first sidekick ever after my dash EXPLODED, so this thing was like an effing dream. I didn’t lose my notes till this morning even after I took the battery out, so now my notes and contacts are gone, which sucs cuz I’m in college and write papers on it. (It’s the smartphone of all smartphones, I ad an MDA and a Dash before this, and the MDA was clunky and had a damn mind of its own, and the Dash EXPLODED, and even with the service outage I think SIdekicks are better) TO make matters worse, I got service back for like three minutes, right before my train went underground, and now it’s gone again. I wanna throw it against a wall.
I’m not switching from T-MObile, I’ve had that service since I was like 9 or 10, and it’s the only seervice I know. Bt this is not cool man. My texts were working though, before my service came back. My sceduler , to do list, calender all 3 messengers, emails, face book, my space everything is gone and I use allllllllll of my phone features!!!! Tmobile first offered me 100 free text messages and I went off its was very insulting I paid $500 for the phone and $35 a month in data and have unlimited messages but you offer more. So I spoke with a manager got $35 off the bill but then it wasnt applied. so I had to call back and get them to remove the moeny.

Yet, for some reason, if you check the message alert settings or ringer volume, it says it will ring/vibrate. That’s one of the things irritating me most with this. I never know if I get messaged now.
They said it’s almost fixed, but I haven’t seen anything. Just texts with my user/password.
I have a memory card, so it backs up my texts, pic texts, phonebook, and notes on there. I don’t have a problem right now other than no data usage.

The problem is due to the Danger server, which the owner of that is Micro$oft. They purchased Danger. Therefore, the problem is caused by microsoft, not really T-Mobile. Once again, I don’t really understand why are you purchasing a phone that doens’t have any memory and that it needs data service in order to maintain the info on the phone since it needs to sync every single time. If you don’t have data and you reset your phone or remove the battery, you LOOSE everything!!!!. Don’t you learn from your experience or from everybody else???. Get another phone that is not a Sidekick guys!!. If you want a keyboard, get the HTC Touch pro 2 or the Sansumg Comeback or the G1. Any Nokia phone is good. DON’T get Sidekick, or DO NOT complaint whenever you have this king of problems.
Something else. T-Mobile doesn’t unlock Sidekicks and that’s it. So if you want to do that, use your resources and unlock it on your own (write down unlock sidekick on youtuve and you will learn how to do it)

The Sidekick needs the data plan to work ok, but there are a lot of phones that work fine with and WITHOUT a data plan. I have a HTC Kaiser. If I remove the battery, I don’t lose the contacts. That’s how it is supposed to be. That’s why I don’t understand why you keep purchasing Sidekicks.
I have a sidekick…I am still without everything and have been told that I could possibly never get my 280 contacts back…GREAT! So…in conclusion…the person that stated earlier “why do you buy a phone that relies on the server to store all of your info?” I don’t know…but I will NEVER make that mistake again.

When you have a phone that you can store numbers to the memory card, you can download on your computer to back them up…I don’t want to rely on a server that goes down all of the time. I live in NYC & I’ve had no sidekick service since 7am Friday morning. I’m only able to make/receive calls & texts. I can’t send or receive picture texts and I don’t have my myfavs, internet, IM, email & download catalog. Service was coming in and out all today (10/05/09). It would come on but 5 minutes later, it would be off. It’s getting really frustrating & I got 1 more month left on my contract.

This is a complete outrage that it has been down this long, in todays society and bussiness world cell communication has became a fixtrue and serious need to make the world run for many of us. i work in the music industry and use my sidekick as not only my personal communication device but as well as for my bussiness. I have not been able to reach my family, friends, and have missed numerous calls I was to make over the past 3 to 4 days wit many artist in the industry and have lost contracts, damaged relationships, but as well as lost money daily during this outage. I know my sidekick and maybe even my T mobile days all together are over… Time to look into a Blackberry.

Come to think of it, I wonder if a good lawyer could set up grounds for a class action lawsuit, I know if I myself have lost money over this, then there are probably many many many other people who also have lost money, and even more important the stress and chaos I know it has caused in my life must of struck others. A example is my daughter got stranded outside this weekend by locking her self out the house, I was not home and she was not able to contact me as we both have sidekicks and she didnt have my number, she ended up sitting outside in the cold and rain for 6 hours till i got home. Not a happy father about that.
Get a phone with Windows Mobile, and you will be able to sync it with the Outlook on your computer. All your contacts and personal info will be duplicated on the PC, besides your phone. You can also get and install on it applications to backup your info such as “mobile backup for Windows Mobile 2007″ or “Sprite Mobile – Backup Software for Windows Mobile” and you won’t ever worry about this.
If someone steals my phone, I’ll get all my contacts from the outlook on my computer.

Anyone know how to sign in? I’ve been given the option and they texted me my user and password, but it’s not working. I entered it and it’s said “Signing in.” for an hour. I walked away and made dinner, then ate it, and came back. Still “signing in.” This happening for anyone else? Am I doing something wrong?
I have a Side Kick 2008 that has given me issues from day 1; last week I was losing service and dropping calls. TMobile said they would send a new one the next day I lost all the contacts in my phone and had no email or IM service. THe new phone arrived today and because the outage the new phone will not work. I am a home care nurse and my cell phone is required. I have been a TMobile customer for years and in the pass had Side Kick 1, Side Kick 2 and Side Kick 3 all worked great. The Side Kick 2008 worse then useless.
I swear I think someone trip’d over the wire connect’n service to all T-Mobile users…8)

Everyone who is complaining doesn’t see the night and day work that is going into this issue for all of you sidekick users. They are working 24/7 to ensure you guys are getting ur service as fast as possible. Do you think, that in the economic time we are all in that Tmobile or Danger/Microsoft is doing this on purpose? Do you think everyone in this company is just sitting on their butts twiddling their thumbs with not a care in the world for their customers? Tmobile treats their customers with the utmost respect and its killing themn to see their customers going through this. Who else would crdit a FULL month of service for a few days of data loss?! Not sprint or verizon! And thos that said that they wait 20-30 min every time they call cust service (prior to friday) are LIARs! They met their goal of getting a customer to a Rep for the past 9 months. (Answering 80% of calls within 40 seconds so don’t be saying that it takes forever to speak to an agent because that’s what Tmobile prides themselves on as well as their cust service.
All of you that keep saying that Tmobile will lose a customer if they don’t get their services or credit are all a bunch of idiots. If you do leave tmobile, good riddance! I’m sure that’s sprint and verizon will willingly take you and treat u the way u should be treated. (Like CRAP). Why do you think Tmobile has won the JD powers award for their customer service 8 times out of the past 9 times its been announced? Because tmobile cust servi IS the best. Those that leave the company, is their loss and will soon regret it. There is such passion in the company to treat their customers right. How DARE you guys criticize a company who’s sole value in the company is to make the CUSTOMER happy! Tmobile is doing their best with danger/microsoft and all you guys can do is cry for money. It really is a wake up call in this world when people take advantage of a situation like this to take money from a company that prides themselves on offering respect for their customers. I have the G, but no contacts or calendar info… I’m really nervous now, since the automated message from calling T-mobile says “don’t pull your battery or you may lose information.”
When you buy a new sidekick, all that info carries over. So why not now???
Are the contacts pictures and emails lost forever if so these cocksuckers really dropped the ball and screwed alotta people over hopefully this is not the case but it looks I’ve lost a lot of memories and important data due to horrible service I’m just glad this is a secondary phone

Still can’t connect to the network. I finally got to enter the user and pass, but it says it’s wrong now. I entered it exactly how they sent it to me in the text, and have done that 3 times. Still says it’s wrong, and now I can’t even use my browser because it says I need to sign on .. but I CAN’T. ._. Hope this gets fixed.
I tried to call T-Mobile about the “incorrect” user and pass, but I can’t get through to them. It just disconnects me or an automated message tells me they can’t complete my call. Oh well. *shrugs*
I am having problems signing in; the password they sent me was the last 4 digits of my imsi and it said that it was invalid & i went to my-tmobile.com & got the password sent to me & tried that & that didnt work either. Is anyone else having the same problem.. or knows how to fix it?

Personally im extremly happy because my sidekick is now working. However im very upset with the fact that even though I have my g7 back all my contacts are gone. I had 502 contacts and now im completly assed out. Everytime someone sends me a text or calls me I have to say “who’s this”. Its annoying!

I noticed.. when I turn my sidekick off then turn it back on, the time isn’t correct. I tried it a few times already and it still keeps messing up the time.
Well, I was on a road trip on a friday night when I found out I didn’t have internet access. I got lost from a 8 hour drive so I had to stop at a gas station. I then tried to go mapquest.com on my phone but no luck so I went up and ask directions from an old man that works there. Unfortunately, I did not understand a word the old man was telling me and there was no else there. So now I figured to make phone calls but my contacts are gone and I can’t even remember my parent’s phone number by heart. So I called 911 just for a friggin direction.
I was already pissed off when my internet connection wasn’t working and I needed it the most. Got more pissed off by finding out the issues and reading all this angry comments.
I’m done with T-Mobile. I know its a “Danger” (data provider) fault but this is just too much man.

even better is that when data came back online for me last night, social networks were left wide open, every log in attempt to myspace or fb that i made took me into someone elses acct! a billion log in attempts only took me into a billion other ppls pages and them into mine appearantly, cause they changed everything in my acct, including my bday making me 16 again lol!! of course tmobile did nothing for me, and myspace didnt either… im beginning to wonder about the actual security on this wonderful Danger Network…
I finally have spotty service. I was not sent a text message with a new password for the sign in screen and when I used my “My T-Mobile” password it stated it was invalid. So I went and used the “Live Chat” option and my password was reset and that finally worked.
I called on Friday to see what the problem was and got 300 free minutes (100 on each line) and then when I was using the “Live Chat” option I was given a credit for $24.99 for my trouble. Thankfully I have the saved transcript from the chat to verify that these will be things they do give me. We’ll see what happens now! My 3G pops up off and on since being able to sign in. I’m not a teen, tween, or gay…I just like the phone.
I’ve only been a t-mobile customer for 1 month now, and fuck me, I happened to have gotten the sidekick….this is one nightmare that I regret, all because I wanted to be cheap and teach Verizon a lesson after 100 years of excellent service…now look who is paying…
Anyway, has t-mobile breached our 2 year contract with this outage??? they surely haven’t held up their end of the contract….

Yeah this entire topic has gone down hill and far away from this planet. Great that T-Mobile has provided service for a much lower cost. If your a sidekick owner enough said today will mark 6 days without data service and yeah trying to trouble shoot the problem by removing your battery makes it worse. Best thing is to call 611 aka customer care make sure your getting credited back your money to your account. I have a SK LX 09 10/01/09-10/06/09 no contacts other than my old back up from my sim card yeah good bye caller id, data still going in /out, no email, address book no details to your contacts and no GPS aka BING. Tells you anything that the merge between Microsoft and Danger is still in rough waters. If your a sidekick fan be sure to get your money back for this month and you’ll be waiting for a while until you can see full service.
mann im stationed out here in albuquerque nm, and my sidekick slide still hasnt restored my contacts or none of my pics at that, the g will pop up and i can get online and browse and go on my tmobile from my phone too, even sign into messenger… but no email or contacts or pics, wassup???
Well if it makes you guys feel better, i did a major hard reset on my phone. meaning i help 1,0, @, and shift. reset the phone and held R until i got the dead sidekick icon. then it restarted again and my phone has been “waiting for activation” for 2 days not, i cant even make phone calls unless it 911 or customer care. They need to fix this ASAP im without a phone completley…

@J Boogie. If you did a hard reset I’m afraid your contacts are lost. To anybody that has a Sidekick I would strongly advise to not do a hard reset. All will be lost. Don’t call and ask T-mobile customer service reps because Danger/T-mobile forgot to inform them to not tell customers to do this. I would say don’t look for full service to be restored until Thursday or Friday. While yes things seem like they are back to normal I’m quite sure there is still recovery behind the scenes that we don’t know about. Anything mixed with Microsoft you know the story.
this fucking sucks.. I bought my 08 sidekick in january with a 2 year contract.. I seriously want to get out of it now. my sisters been with tmobile for like over 5 years and I’m on her plan. is there a way I can get off my contract without paying like amillion dollars?

Hey man I’m from Indianapolis yeah they said removing your battery or doing so and doing a restart you may loose your contacts. If you did a contact sync with the website under your account you can ask customer service to sync it back to your SK. Only one big catch ……. NO DATA SERVICE YET lol almost one week and counting good luck. Also check your sim card go to your address book and hit the menu button then select import from sim card hopefully that gets you at least something. Make sure they get you your money man also take a look at those touch or something else because we might be with no data for a while the way this looks.

call t-mobile… they can talk you through how to use your user name and password if on the setting menu you don’t have a sign on option (like myself)… yes it is annoying and inconvenient but t-mobile is being most helpful and if you ask you will most definitely receive money off your next and/or future month’s bill (like myself) there is a good reason that i use tmobile and LOVE LOVE LOVE my sidekick… one stinking weekend without internet is certainly not enough to throw all the past years away… specially since they are being so accommodating

Ive been getin free data package from tmobile for about 2 months now. For some reason When i added the package to my account. I never got charged for it. So im wondering when the data pakage is back up. Will i continue to get free web. I hope so. I got the text message yesterday with my email and password for tmail. But nothing works still. :frown: I orginially voted “undecided” about changing from using a SideKick, but it would be wrong for me to stay with MicroSoft/Danger. I’ve worked in corporate IT for many years. Multi-day outages are only understandable for the very LEAST important applications. A down server is supposed to be merely a down component in a System of multiple redundant servers (and network and power and location and backups). I don’t get it. But I do get that these folks can’t be trusted as stewards of my information. “Software As A Service”. Yeah, right. The days of professionals in IT is in the past. Back to using my phone as a phone and relying on hard copy in my pocket…or we’ll see if Google (Android) can be a bit more responsible as a company with REAL IT.

This is PURPOSELY a plug pulled by the largest software company in the WORLD to get you to switch from T-Mobile. Don’t fall for it, T-Mobile is NOT to blame!!! They have been the BEST Carrier I have ever had, by FAR. I loved my Sidekick until today, when I learned of its passing. Its dead. Bury it, but do NOT get a Windows based ANYTHING! Stay with T-Mobile, they will hook you up- Get an Android/Google phone!
PS- I’m a “Tween”, between 50 and 60 years old, I loved my SideKick, aww.

Lost my information. I can go down to Compusa and buy a terabyte for a very reasonable price. Let’s say there are 1,000,000 SideKick users, just for the sake of making the math simple. Lets say the each customer had a Meg of contact info, which, by the way, is almost inconceivable–the full text of the King James Bible is about 5 Meg. That’s 1,000,000 X 1,000,000 which is 1,000,000,000,000. Oh look, enough raw storage for a million customers. For, maybe, $150. Yeah, I’m using marketing bytes and I know that “Enterprise” level storage is much more expensive. But in this instance, it doesn’t look like they’re actually running their business as as a real IT Enterprise anyway. Lost all that data. Unbelievable.
Fellow victims, if you do switch to another smart phone, DON’T go with Windows Mobile! MicroSoft is behind this disaster, whatever the backend story. It is absolutely unforgivable! I’m thinking that maybe Google/Android will give me similar capabilities for online replication of my data. But you can bet your glutius maximus I’ll never NOT have a method of making local backups again. These big companies whack the techs and keep the bean counters, so I’ll never trust one of them again. Bottom line your service is crap and you giving out A ONE TIME CREDIT for us losing service/contacts/ringtones/etc. That was on the phone is BS. Not enough compesation for your so called valued customers! Get it together. Best believe im getting my money back. You aint fins to mail me nothin either. Im getting mines up front. i lost my contacts , more than 120, now you saying not ot hard reset by removing battery, thats the first thing people would do, especially after a couple of days of this melarchy……..1 month data doesnt bring back anything, how about free phone upgrades!!!!!!!!

To everybody telling us that we’re overreacting 2 this data loss & 2 calm down…..kiss my ass! How are we supposed 2 feel that we’ve lost all of our phone numbers, notes, calendar events, pictures, ringtones (that we’ve purchased) & so on? I’m not in the guiness book of world records for memorizing people’s phone numbers!! They’re supposed 2 be in my freakin phone assholes!!! T-mobile has sent an update saying that if certain customers have lost data for good, they MIGHT qualify for a $100.00 customer appreciation card. What do they mean MIGHT? How about giving ALL OF US $100.00 cards. I know they can afford it. I just paid my bill on saturday so they can just give me my $100.00 card out of that money! As far as people saying to get a life…..well I have a very busy one which includes schedules, emailing, contacting people…..oh wait that’s all lost! Including the 100 addresses I have to recollect before Christmas card time! I value my time and not only have I spend the last 2 1/2 yeas putting information into that phone but now I get to start all over again! That time I spent is GONE FOREVER!!!!
I am also irritated that the last time I spoke to tmobile a week ago I was given a $10 credit and that was like pulling teeth and the NOT ENGLISH SPEAKING bitch acted like $10 was wasy more than I deserved!
I wake up this morning and send a text on my phone I leave out my room for 2 mins and I come back my contacts, notes, and data is gone. I still have my G yes. But wtf? How can I operate my phone that depends on data, with no data? I only have 4 contacts, 1 note, 3 pictures, 2 to-do notes, no bookmarks, none of my ringtones/apps.
I called and the rep, bullshit me saying ” It’s due to the outage at Mircrosoft, Danger. There’s no time frame to expect when all your information will be back, all though it will come back automatic it’s no time telling.” Felt like I was listening to a recording.
I mean my phone is a big factor in my life. Why, why, why, would you let one of your biggest products of your whole entire company global, malfuction?
I can’t wait for this whole thing to be over. I will call every chance I get. This is insane how much tmobile is making me angry.
PS. When you call, if you call do not let the rep jerk you around on how much they credit you. Recently, I’ve received credits of 49.99 39.99 and 15.99 now that this has happened to me today when it is fixed I will call back again, and talk down to someone and receive more. Prepaid, monthly, and flexpay customers it applys to all. There’s no excuse for this outage so get what you deserve.
Outage is not reserved for Sidekick Users. My husband and I have a G1 and a Cliq (Which he picked up last night) and we have both been 90% without service including dialing out, texting, data/internet all day.

Yeah, me too…still can’t choose what kind of phone number i’m adding either (ie – home/work/cell)… Things definitely aren’t fixed yet, I’m going to check the T-mobile forums for more info, but doubt there are new updates…
I just went into T-mobile today…I got a new sim card. :/ My phone keeps freezing up and it won’t even register that I have a sim card in the damn phone. It continuously freezes and does this weird thing where it does this fizzle effect before randomly shutting off. And when it restarts, my battery is completely drained. I’m pissed. But they can’t do anything about it until they go through “all the steps of troubleshooting” ughh……….They even said I can get a replacement Sidekick… -_- But………I don’t want another fucking sidekick. I want rid of the damn thing. I love the phone, enjoyed the hell out of having it….but I’m sick of these problems and I don’t want to deal with it happening again. So I want to switch to a new phone. -_- Is that too much to ask?? D: Apparently it is. Why waste my money to “troubleshoot” to fix a phone I no longer want?? I guess I’m not being clear enough when I specifically said “I don’t want this phone anymore…what do I do?” -_- ugh.
