The FCC on Wednesday, August 15, released information on a new GSM phone produced by Firefly, the same company that developed the original Firefly kid’s phone that originally launched on Cingular. This new Firefly phone is more sophisticated and advanced than the original.
Unlike the original Firefly, this phone, dubbed the flyPhone, is similar in shape, though longer, and sports additional functions, like a color screen, full 12-key keypad, camera and MicroSD slot. Buttons are placed under a dark, flexible plastic pad that lights up with different configurations depending on the function being used, camera, MP3, phone, etc. Like its older sibling, the flyPhone is a GSM phone.
