PhoneNews.com Newsletter for August - Yes, we have a newsletter…

We haven’t ever mentioned on the news feed that we have a monthly newsletter. But, we do! And, if you’ve signed up on the PhoneNews.com Forums, you’re getting it.

This month, we ran into a server problem, some servers (including Apple’s MobileMe) started causing trouble. So, we stopped sending out the newsletter mid-way. You may or may not get it this month… so we’re posting it here. Just click Read More to see it.

After a long break, the newsletter is back! We’ve been busy working on new things that we’ll be launching through the rest of the year. We’ve already launched MechaWorks, our new parent company. Around the end of the month, we’ll be launching an entirely new web site… dedicated to saving you money.

And, as a teaser for that new site, we’re kicking this newsletter off with an amazing deal! AT&T is blowing out the Sony Ericsson Z750a for only $59.99, without any contract… as a prepaid phone. That makes it the cheapest 3G phone ever sold. Best of all, you can buy one and use it as a backup phone (as well as on a standard AT&T account, you can even get it unlocked for T-Mobile). We really encourage everyone to check out this deal, as you can even use it as a wireless modem, and data on AT&T is only $20 a month (yes, on prepaid too).

On the Phone Encyclopedia, we’ve made some massive improvements. We’re now uploading phones in real-time. When they come out, they show up on the Encyclopedia. And, we’re hosting more firmware files, downloads, updates, and guides than any other member of the mobile media. Sharing info on phones is now streamlined, with tips & tricks areas that anyone can edit. Oh, and did we mention you don’t even need to register anymore?

Our Forums. We’re working on a new integration with the home page that will get folks posting even more. Since our last newsletter, we’ve rolled out wireless posting. Just point your mobile browser to phonenews.com and click the link to the forums. You can now chat about all-things-wireless… wirelessly!

And, our blog is even going to start having news on it. Now’s a perfect time to park it in your RSS feed reader. Just hop on over, and click the RSS link at the top of the page. You have done that with our main news page already, right?
