PRL Updates on the ic602
In order to update your PRL list on this phone and all "ic" series phones such as the ic402, ic502, ic602 and the ic902 you must do it manually. Why? Because as of the time of this entry Sprint/Nextel has not resolved the OTA update feature for the "ic" series. The problem is that when you ask a Sprint/Nextel rep to flag your account for a PRL update and proceed to call back on *2 you are immediately transferred to the Nextel care side. The problem lies in that the update is pushed OTA from the CDMA Sprint PCS "side" but unfortunately because the system transfers you immediately to the Nextel care side you have no chance in getting the PRL OTA.
So, you must search the web for tools. The best tool to update your PRL is Motorola PST Phone Programmer. Once you find this program on the Net or get it from a tech friend ... you will need a fresh PRL file. You can find a list of them at Corolada PRL Page .. find your PRL prefix and download to your computer. Start up Motorola PST Phone Programmer and choose "Open CDMA PRL" and point to where you saved your updated PRL file .. you may need to choose "All Files" as the PRL file prefix is a bit different from what the native software would save it as. Don't worry, the file will open fine. Now, once you have the file loaded choose "Write to Phone". That's it .. very easy.
You will need the following to perform this manual PRL update ...
1. Motorola USB Drivers: Motorola USB Mobile Phone Drivers
2. Your Phones MSL code. Try to call customer service and ask them for it or seem 55.
3. Motorola PST Phone Programmer software or like such as QualComm QPST.
4. The latest PRL for your phone model, check your current PRL for your prefix from you phones menu: Settings --> Phone Info --> Version. Get new PRLs from Corolada PRL Page
WARNING: This update should only be performed by technical minded people. If you have problems programming Bluetooth to your car or could never figure out how to program a VCR do not attempt to update your PRL. Instead, bring your phone to a Sprint / Nextel technical service store. This is being provided for technical minded people that are capable of performing advanced work in order to save them time. Again, if you are not in the technical minded category don't attempt to update your PRL list and instead let a tech at SprintNextel do it for you or your techie friends.
