PhoneNews.com Mini Review of the Samsung Rant

Codes

On the Number Pad

I. Samsung Test Mode: (do not mess around in here unless you know what your doing or if you want to type a bunch of random shit to mess the programming up, I would recommend you have everything backed up and your phone insured) 47*869#1235 a. 038 - Master Reset (Do Not Enter This, You'll loose contacts, wallpapers etc. and need to reactivate your phone through sprint) b. 040 - NAI Restore c. 698 - Factory Reset (Resets everything back to factory default, Same as 038) d. 002 - Reboot Phone (use this when you're done messing around in Test Mode - - - If you accidentally press either 1 or 2 numbers (not completing the 3 digit code) simply press # to cancel it - - - II. SVC Menu:

    1. xxxxxx# (the x's represent your MSL code)

a. this is what sprint uses to program your phone number into your phone when you first buy it (don't mess with any of it)

III. Obtain your MSL Code - - - Make sure everything is backed up and you are able to get a hold of Sprint Customer Service (10AM - 9PM?) - - - a. type in 47*869#1235 b. enter in 698 (preforms a Factory Reset) c. your phone will take a minute and reset itself d. Call *2 from a separate sprint/nextel phone, when asked for the phone number type in the number of the phone you wish to receive your MSL code for e. tell sprint that you're phone (the one you just reset) cannot dial out and you get a message saying "Your Account Cannot Be Validated" f. sprint might ask for your phones serial number blah blah.. g. the sprint techie should tell you "we are going to reprogram your phone for you" h. he/she will have you enter in (on the phone we reset) ##xxxxxx# (the x's are your MSL code, keep it in a safe place ;]) and you will go to the SVC Menu (sound familiar?) i. he/she will continue telling you how to enter your phone number blah blah and your MSID blah blah .. thats pretty much it.

- - - If all else fails just tell sprint your phone locked you out and it says it requires your MSL code to unlock it again (25% success rate) - - -

THE ABOVE IS NOT NECESSARY. JUST DO THIS:

1. On the main screen type in 47*869#1235 2. You should now be in Test Mode 3. Type in 119, this will bring up your MSL code. 4. Press # as soon as you see your MSL if not you might change your MSL. 5. After memorizing your MSL, type in 002 6. Your phone should shut off and turn back on.

I do not encourage you to edit, modify, or corrupt any of the information on your phone, as it may cause damage, I do not hold myself or this website accountable, liable, or responsible for your actions. I simply provide a how-to informative guide. Be Cautioned.

Tips/Tricks/Hacks

The phone features Sprint's new BREW UI based OneClick user interface and is set as the default theme with no option to disable the user interface or switch themes. [1]

To disable the Sprint One Click UI type:

  • ##3282# > *. XUI > 4. XUI on/off

(I corrected this) It was supposed to be ##data#

This will disable your option to change the background picture and the main menu style, but you will no longer have the annoying one click interface.
