AKU 3.5 Firmware Update - Unofficial & Unsupported AKU 3.3 Firmware Update, install latest firmware above first. To install the AKU 3.3 firmware update, the device must be placed in Bootloader mode before being connected to the PC. To do this, hold the Power and Record buttons and then Soft Reset. Continue holding these buttons until the Bootloader screen appears. It will read USB once connected to your PC. You can then install the update normally.

==Known Issue: Background Bluetooth Modem Unstable==
The PPC-6700 allows you to start a Bluetooth phone-as-modem session without opening the Wireless Modem application. However, the resulting connection is not as stable. For best reliability, always go to the Wireless Modem application and click Start with Bluetooth selected. Then initiate a phone-as-modem connection.

[edit] Tips/Trick/Hacks

Tip: Uninstall Sprint Adware
A PCS Intel first created in our labs. This is the only non-invasive way to remove the adware that Sprint forces you to install. As part of the device's initial boot, it installs several trial applications, followed by an evil little program that erases their uninstallers. This directly targets savvy users who do not want this software on their system.

To bypass this, you need to install the free application Total Commander. Open Total Commander and manually type into the address bar \extended_rom and hit return on your keyboard. You will be taken to a hidden folder. In this folder, you need to run each installer (CAB file) again except Disable_RemovePrograms.cab. Reboot when requested, and complete opening all the cab files and installing them. Then, soft reset once more to return to a typical startup. Go to Settings > System > Remove Programs. You should now be able to uninstall most adware applications. If you accidentially remove something you do not want to, simply re-run the installer for the program you uninstalled.

Hack: Enable Incoming Calls During EV-DO
To receive incoming calls while in an active EV-DO (Power Vision) data session, and are running firmware 2.06.00 or later, you will need to perform a master reset of the device. Dial ##786# into the phone like a regular phone number, then proceed to reset the device using the option displayed. This will require your MSL, which you will have to get from Sprint customer service. If you have never done this before, it's best to have technical support walk you through performing a master reset, and then reprogramming the phone. The master reset will erase all data (and settings) on the device. This will then allow for incoming calls while in an EV-DO data session, however, in a 1xRTT (Vision) data session calls will still be redirected to voicemail.

This does not work on newer units... your mileage will vary...

Trick: Improve Slider Transition Speed
You will need a registry editor such as TRE to perform this modification. It increases the memory stored by the graphics system to accelerate transitioning from portrait to landscape display.

1) Open your registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE
2) Change the "limit" value from 8192 to 16384
3) Exit the registry editor and soft reset the device

Also, please make sure you are running the latest firmware. Newer firmware updates have also helped improve slider speed dramatically.

Trick: Increase FAT Cache to Optimize Storage Card
You will need a registry editor such as TRE to perform this modification. This will increase the amount of memory used on your storage card to 4 MB in order to provide for faster access to files; a common complaint with Windows Mobile 5 storage cards.

1) Open your registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS
2) Change the value of CacheSize from 0 to 4096
3) Exit the registry editor and soft reset the device

Hack: Increase MP4 Video Framerate
You will need a registry editor such as TRE to perform this modification.

1) Open your registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\ReParam\MP4Large
2) Change the value of FramRate from 10 to 19
3) Repeat the process for MP4Medium and MP4Small if you use Small and Medium size formats
4) Exit the registry editor and soft reset the device

Hack: Enable MS Voice Command via Bluetooth
This hack will allow you to activate Microsoft Voice Command via the button on your Bluetooth headset (you must already have MS Voice Command 1.5 or later installed). Microsoft does not support the usage of Voice Command over Bluetooth. You will need a registry editor such as TRE to perform this modification. You must have firmware 2.06.00 or later installed for this hack to work properly.

1) Open your registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path
2) Edit the default value from \Windows\SDDialer.exe to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe
3) Exit the registry editor and soft reset the device
