  • Qualcomm to Launch Healthcare MVNO in 2008

Qualcomm is launching an MVNO focused on healthcare with a broad appeal
for medical professionals and consumers with services and applications
for personal wellness and specialized medical needs. The company will
be called LifeComm and is expected to launch in 2008.

Qualcomm is also working with handset manufacturers to develop handsets
around its applications and services while still maintaining appeal for
the average consumer. The company has an agreement with an unnamed CDMA
carrier and is expected to use BREW as its application platform as well
as assisted-GPS services, opening up speculation that either Verizon or
    Alltel would host the operator.
