After mentioning the possibility of more competitive service plans last week, Sprint has officially announced the forthcoming launch of Sprint’s Family Share Pack. The new plan includes four lines with unlimited voice, text and 20GB of shared data for $160 per month, undercutting AT&T and Verizon’s similarly-priced plans that include only 10GB of data across multiple lines while T-Mobile’s shared plan costs $100 per month with 2.5GB each across four lines in its own limited time promotion.
Sprint is also offering an incentive to families that port their numbers from other carriers, as the carrier will give families who switch up to 10 lines unlimited talk/text and 20GB of shared data for only $100 per month through 2015, plus an additional 2GB per line, up to 28GB of data per month for four lines and a family of 10 would have up to 40GB of data per month; with the catch being that all new devices must be purchased through Sprint Easy Pay. The promotional $100 plan pricing for all new Family Pack accounts regardless of total line count will be available from August 22 to September 30 for new customers to purchase.
Sprint is also offering to cover ETFs of up to $350 per line for families that end their contract early to sign up under the new Sprint Family Share Pack. Other caveats to this plan include the removal of the “Framily” line discounts as well as the aforementioned requirements for Sprint Easy Pay and the additional monthly charges for tablets at $10 per month per line and mobile broadband devices at $20 per month per line. Sprint will announce a new slate of plans for individuals later this week. Below is the breakdown of how the plan will work beginning in 2015 after the promotional period ends:
