Sprint will soon relaunch the Sanyo Katana Eclipse as the Sanyo Katana Eclipse X.
The Katana Eclipse X will feature EL lights on the front flip, but is otherwise identical to the original model. The biggest difference will be in the phone software as it will launch with the BREW UI-based OneClick user interface, which PhoneNews.com has covered in-depth and exposed its major flaw in the lack of an available user toggle for people that do not wish to use the interface.
With Sanyo being a popular and widely lauded brand on the carrier, it remains to be seen whether loyalists will like and accept the change, as Sanyo users have proven to be the most vocal and opinionated customers on the increasingly beleaguered carrier.
There is no launch or pricing information at this time.

The author of the story hit the right note ending referencing Sanyo loyalty, use to like having something to do with that brand. Does the UI disable themes?
The UI acts almost exactly like the dreaded Verizon UI, except it’s not red. You can’t turn it off without needing your lock code and knowing where the debug mode is (if there’s one to begin with), and it doesn’t allow for using the standard Sanyo user interface since it’s the only one on the phone.
Also, One Click phones do not have any support for uiOne themes… even if you disable One Click via the ##3282# debug menu.
