I am really excited to switch until I found out how SLOW it was.........I mean is was SO SLOW at the Keeaumoku Store where I went to pick up my Clear modem. I complained before I bought it and told them that I'd be bringing the modem back if I go home and it performed like in the store.....the Clear modem did not disappoint. It was SLOWWWWWWWW. Sheeesh when they were Clearwire the connection was faster. Wimax is supposed to be faster but in Hawaii....it's not ! And the sad part is that Oceanic Cable's Road Runner service is being sold as Road Runner Mobile. More like Road Runner imMobile.....this internet service will imMobilize your life with it's REALLY crappy, deadly low speed. The best speed I could get was 600kbps. That's sooooo lame. The old Clearwire used to give me at least 1.4 Mbps. That's over twice as fast ! Do NOT and I repeat DO NOT get Clear cuz it sucks. I find that Road Runner is the fastest residential connection in the city of Honolulu. DSL used to be good, but not anymore. I don't know what happened but the service deteriorated where I was getting 160kbps upload. I used to get regular 1000kpbs...but that died. Then my download speeds slowed down from a regular 6.5 to 6.7Mbps down to 5.3Mbps. Stay away from DSL by Hawaiian Tel and Clear as they both suck.

So my friend gets Clearwire which is now labled as Clear because they switched to Wimax. Sprint really didn't have anything to do with it, as Time Warner has resale rights as part of the investment.
It will be interesting to see if non-shareholders also get into the business of reselling Clear 4G. That largely depends on how quickly Clear can rebrand/upgrade their existing Clearwire footprint.

Technically Time Warner is a joint investor in Clear.
