UTStarcom, Sprint Change Tune, Cancel PPC-6600 EV-DO

Until this week, both Sprint and UTStarcom were confirming to PCS Intel directly that the PPC-6600 would be updated to support EV-DO. However, that has now changed.

Katie Wasserman, the Vice President for Marketing of UTStarcom’s Personal Communications division confirmed directly to PCS Intel this week that the PPC-6600 would not be updated to support EV-DO.

That was followed this hour by Sprint media relations confirming that their past statements on the PPC-6600 update were incorrect, and that the project had been recently canceled.
