Cisco has decided to formally file suit against Apple for infringing on the iPhone trademark.
Apple and Cisco had reportedly been in extensive discourse over the
trademark sometime before the iPhone was revealed, yet reportedly fell
apart when Cisco offered a final agreement on Tuesday with no sign of
Apple refusing or cooperating on the matter. The lawsuit seeks an
injunction to prevent the release of the iPhone. No word on Apple’s
response to the suit was available.
Update: The following link is a posting on Cisco’s blog by the Senior Vice President and General Counsel Mark Chandler offering an update and explanation on the issue.
