Google has announced that it will end its online sales program after its final shipment of the Nexus One is sold.
The Nexus One will still be offered to developers via an unnamed partner while international sales will continue via select carrier partners around the world, with US availability being modeled after the international model. The Nexus One was Google’s strategy to offer its vision of Android with powerful hardware directly to consumers and enthusiasts.
The device came to prominence first for being the most powerful Android device announced and released, then being officially supported by T-Mobile with future support from Vodafone announced. Verizon initially announced support for the Nexus One at the same time before moving ahead with the equally powerful HTC Incredible and effectively cancelling the CDMA version.
