TellMe Networks has announced that it plans to integrate its eponymous voice activated search service within Windows Mobile 6.5 as a replacement for Microsoft’s venerable yet primitive voice control in use since Windows Mobile 5.0.
TellMe will offer the “One-Button TellMe Search” capability to carriers and hardware manufacturers at no cost, with the decision to implement the service left to the aforementioned entities.
This is the same underlying solution behind the Sync Vehicle Control System used by Ford and co-developed with Microsoft with current devices such as the Samsung Instinct also implementing the technology.
Unlike other voice control algorithms and services, the One-Button TellMe search leverages every aspect of Windows Mobile 6.5, and will allow for voice control in nearly every major function of the device, from messaging, internet searches, and the standard contacts list to provide a simplified experience for such repetitive tasks.
The solution is expected to be available this Fall around the launch window for the first Windows Mobile 6.5 devices with availability confirmed for the Windows Mobile Marketplace as a free application.
