In a press release today, Motorola has announced the availability of a new Push to Talk solution which consists of a preloaded software client on mobile devices that the company claims provides comparable call setup to other more established solutions utilizing EVDO Rev. A data connections.
Motorola also touted its implementation of other services within the solution such as the “Push-to X” suite of instant information sharing and multimedia services over the solution with one button, which is identical to Qualcomm’s competing QChat solution deployed on Sprint.
While Motorola did not announce any current CDMA 1xEVDO Rev. A carriers utilizing its solution, it has been rumored that Verizon Wireless had deployed its current EVDO Rev. A PTT handsets with the service, though no further information exists at this time to confirm once and for all what platform the carrier is indeed using since PhoneNews.com reported on Verizon’s plans to launch PTT over EVDO Rev.
