Samsung Continuum Press Event Roundup

Samsung has taken to a dedicated press event to formally announce the Samsung Continuum for Verizon Wireless launching this week.  The phone will feature a 1.8 inch “ticker display” with the capability to use it as a secondary app dock, real-time news ticker, and other functions in an RSS reader, incoming notifications and standby mode.  The phone also features a grip sensor that cues up the ticker if any important notifications have been received with the additional capability to swipe between ticker functions.

Specs are as previously reported: 3.4 inch AMOLED main display, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5.0 megapixel camera with 720p video capture, microSDHC expansion slot and Android 2.2 with mobile hotspot support.  The phone will be launched on Thursday for $199.99 after new 2 year agreement and $100 mail-in rebate.

Can Samsung possible get any lamer releasing a NEW Android phone this late in the year with 2.1 on it? Gingerbread is right around the corner and they will soon be 2 versions behind everyone else.

Sure, hardware wise this is sweet, but software wise, super doper WEAK.

For someone trying to establish a name for themselves as being a major player in the cell phone business, they are failing measurably.

I wonder if this phone will have GPS problems like all the other Galaxy S selections?
