Verizon Wireless today at CES announced their new V CAST TV network. The network uses MediaFLO, an addition to EV-DO that requires separate deployment. Verizon expects to have V CAST TV deployed later this year, but pricing was not offering.
Verizon has however announced deals with all major broadcast networks, in addition to various cable channels (MTV being the only one confirmed so far by Verizon). The network will launch this quarter with two new devices; the LG (VX)9400 and Samsung Mobi. Verizon did confirm that there will be East Coast and West Coast variations initially of network programming, but also confirmed that in the future local programming will be offered.
