PhoneNews.com has previously, and comprehensively covered Sprint’s intentions to partner with several companies for its XOHM WiMAX network. Now other news sources have re-reported this information, brining it back to the front page of the mass media.
The Wall Street Journal has simply confirmed these findings, nothing new from our previous reports is considered “new” news to readers of PhoneNews.com. Their reporting enumerated Comcast, Time Warner, Google, and Intel as being Sprint network backers for WiMAX.
Intel has funded, at least in part, every WiMAX deployment through brokered discounts. This is akin to Qualcomm’s subsidizing the deployment of CDMA networks globally.
We will continue to report on WiMAX, and Sprint’s XOHM network next week at CTIA Wireless 2008. Stay tuned for continuous coverage of the show, and Sprint’s upcoming XOHM announcements.
